As a Lead Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in defining and implementing the company’s test automation strategy, in partnership with other senior engineering leads. 

Key responsibilities & goals 

• You will lead test automation for one of the company’s core products (e.g. AREMA, Cardworks). 
• You will identify areas that benefit from improved test automation, and execute implementation plans to achieve these improvements. 
• Your scope will cover several modules/sub-components of the product. 
• As a lead, you will help train technical QAs in test automation, including identifying needs for formal 3rd party training or courses.

The role

Works closely with and under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.  Primarily, the role will be responsible to provide technical support for production incidents and customer deployments Secondarily, and time allowing, the role will deliver product enhancements and improvements.

As a member of the NextGen technology team in Kuala Lumpur, acquire knowledge and technical capability to support customer installations of the Fraud platforms and products.

• Form part of the 24/7 on-call support roster
• Support scheduled customer deployments and installation

The team

The team is responsible for providing practical decision support solutions to address business objectives in the areas of risk prevention and fraud detection. We offer state-of-the-art software solutions and provide comprehensive client support using our expertise and flexible, client-focused approach.

The role

Works closely with and under the guidance of the Software Engineering Manager, the role will be responsible to deliver product enhancements, improvements as well as addressing issues.

You will involve in analysing and building a technical understanding of GBG Fraud products. A key part of the role will be ensuring our projects are delivered to high standards of innovation, quality, and excellence as well as on time and budget.

What you will do

As part of an Agile development team:

• Be part of next gen product teams here in Kuala Lumpur, build up knowledge and technical capability to deliver features in line with the overall technical and product strategy.
• Deliver product enhancements according to the requirements and take part in new developments.
• Design, Code, Automate, and refactor codes, programs, scripts, and other software services.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and provide solutions to problems with newly developed software.
• Work with the Software Engineering Manager, Product Owner, and Scrum Team to build the technology design to deliver new features or enhancements which will include writing detailed technical requirements, user story planning and so on.
• Participate in iterative Agile approaches to software development, including the full process from concept to deployment.
• In time, form part of an on-call support roster.

What we're looking for

Technical Skills

• Sound knowledge and experience with Java and worked within Sping Boot Framework
• Handson experience with RDBMS such as PostgreSQL Database applications (Database design would be an advantage).
• Experience with No SQL Database technology such as Redis (preferred) or Data Analytic Database such as Druid is strong added advantage.
• Knowledge of Lambda and real time streaming processing architecture.
• CI/CD, cloud and containers knowledge (Terraform, Kubernetes, Dockers, HelmChart and etc.) would be an advantage.
• Some Experience with Angular or other UI framework would be beneficial

What You Will Do

• Participate in and contribute/lead technical design and discussions with peers and stakeholders to decide the best technical approaches to product problems.
• Write and test high-quality product or system development code, utilizing your expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and familiarity with JavaScript/ TypeScript (NestJS).
• Participate in code reviews and provide valuable feedback to ensure quality and outcomes, with a keen eye on performance optimization and backend security best practices.
• Set up and maintain the cloud infrastructure for your product and tools, using AWS services like EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, and ECS.
• Contribute to new and existing documentation and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on operations and quality. Use JIRA/ Confluence for issue tracking and project documentation.

• Experience and Expertise: At least 4 years of experience in a software engineering role, within a product or engineering-led team. Strong ability in Java (Spring Boot) for backend services and a good grasp of JavaScript/ TypeScript using NestJS.
• Database Technologies: Expertise in SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL) and proficiency in NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) for effective data handling and caching mechanisms.
• CloudInfrastructureandDevOpsSkills:ExtensiveexperiencewithAWS, proficiency in Docker for containerization, and advanced knowledge in CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment.
