Job Summary:

As the Technical Manager for Coil Coatings and Industrial Coatings, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing technical aspects related to the development, production, and quality control of coatings used in various industrial applications, with a focus on coil coatings. You will lead a team of technical professionals, ensuring the successful execution of projects, product development, and adherence to quality standards. This position requires a deep understanding of coatings technology, project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Maintain, drive, supervise and implement robust technical standards, systems, and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Provide technical expertise in coil coatings and industrial coatings, including formulation, testing, performance and application processes.
• Lead research and development efforts to improve coating performance, durability, and environmental sustainability.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.

Team Management:

• Supervise and mentor a team of technical professionals, including chemists, engineers, and technicians.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.

Product Development:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new coatings products tailored to specific customer requirements.
• Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization.
• To analyse market trends and requirements to design products with long term view and sustainability objective.

Quality Control:

• Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure coatings meet industry standards and customer expectations.
• Investigate and address any quality-related issues, providing solutions and improvements as needed.

Project Management:

• Plan and execute technical projects related to coatings development, process optimization, and quality improvement.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to achieve project goals.

Customer Support:

• Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to provide technical support to customers, addressing their inquiries and resolving issues.
• Develop effective relationship with customers to differentiate Beckers offering
• Conduct product presentations and technical training for customers and internal teams.
• To create awareness and promote existing product range along with Sales and marketing department.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure that coatings products comply with local and international regulatory standards and environmental regulations.
• Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with relevant legislative and compliance standards.
• Ensuring the integration of QMS requirements into the organization’s business process

The primary responsibilities of the Test Engineer are to ensure the whole process of laboratory testing from receiving samples until producing results are in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025; to ensure laboratory safety and good maintenance of the laboratory.

The Test Engineer will also be responsible to perform the following;

• To plan for the testing schedule and technician tasks to meet customer requirement
• To maintain high level of quality control and quality assurance of all testing carried out in the laboratory
• To ensure standard procedures while performing testing on samples are followed and to ensure entering test result into quality reporting accurately and in timely manner
• To review testing report and customer testing requirements when necessary
• To writing procedures and work instruction for laboratory works
• To ensure the performance and monitoring of required preventive maintenance and calibration of instrumentation
• To work with vendor to schedule maintenance and calibration of instruments
• To ensure support for laboratory operations including participation in audit, management of chemicals and equipment, maintain a clean and safe working environment
• To ensure compliance to all company’s program, contributing to meet customer service, commitment to maintain laboratory operations, complying to QA/QC, HSE, environment and regulatory standards.
• Additionally, to provide technical support when necessary

• Develop and enhance coil coating formulations to align with customer and industry standards. 

• Maintain product consistency, quality, and performance through ongoing research and development efforts. 

• Identify and assess new raw materials to improve product features and functionality. 

Innovation and System Integration 

• Integrate new technologies and innovations into existing product lines. 

• Stay current with industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to implement advanced solutions. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing) to effectively integrate innovations. 

Trials and Product Validation 

• Plan, execute, and monitor product trials to ensure new developments meet performance and quality criteria. 

• Conduct online product validation tests to comply with internal and external standards. 

• Analyze test data and optimize product performance based on findings. 

Cost Optimization 

• Identify and apply strategies for raw material cost savings without sacrificing product quality. 

• Work closely with procurement and production teams to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency. 

• Regularly review product formulations to maintain cost-effective solutions. 

Health and Safety 

• Recognize that health and safety is a shared responsibility. Take reasonable care of oneself and others, adhering to Beckers' Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures. 

• Actively identify and report unsafe conditions, with EHS Managers, Officers, Supervisors, and above authorized to halt any operations conducted in unsafe conditions 

Role purpose
• Drive the Syngenta Professional Solutions, Professional Pest Management (PPM) business (details as per below) in Malaysia
• Formulate & implement strategies and manage projects to achieve growth objectives with alignment to regional aspirations & strategies
• Review development strategy to optimise product portfolio, prepare launch plans, ensure effective post launch activities to maximize growth, evaluate new opportunities, review channel/KAM strategy to maximize effectiveness
• Explore and accelerate growth opportunities in PPM across Malaysia.

Accountabilities
Business Development
• Formulate growth and market development strategies.

Communication Liaison
• Liaise with and proactively influence key stakeholders (internal & external) with relevant technical & commercial information
• Build strong relationships with key growers, stakeholders and channel partners to facilitate the positioning of Syngenta products as the products of choice based on a strong technical position & confidence in use
• Liaise with MY and/or APAC business teams to ensure timely execution of action plans, knowledge transfer and sharing of best practices

• Assist to ensure Quality Manual, Procedures, SOPs, WIs, etc. are appropriately documented and implemented.
• Assist in communicating and follow up with local authorities for various accreditations and certifications.

• Ensure the sample preparation equipment are used and maintained in proper way.
