Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) Technician to join our team in the automotive bus manufacturing industry. The PDI Technician will be responsible for performing thorough inspections and testing of completed buses to ensure they meet all quality, safety, and performance standards before delivery to clients. This role requires technical knowledge of automotive systems, strong attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve any issues to maintain product integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Pre-Delivery Inspections:
Conduct comprehensive inspections of buses, including exterior, interior, mechanical, electrical, and safety systems, to ensure they meet company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
β’ System Testing:
Test vehicle systems, including the engine, transmission, brakes, HVAC, electrical, lighting, suspension, and other critical components, to verify proper functionality.
β’ Troubleshooting & Diagnosis:
Identify and troubleshoot issues found during inspections, using diagnostic equipment, manuals, and knowledge of automotive systems to repair or recommend corrective actions.
β’ Documentation & Reporting:
Record detailed inspection findings, including photographs and written reports, to ensure all issues are properly documented and communicated to the production team and management.
β’ Collaboration with Production Teams:
Work closely with production, assembly, and quality control teams to address any defects or discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
β’ Quality Assurance:
Ensure that buses meet all internal and external quality standards and regulatory requirements before being released for delivery or shipping.
β’ Customer Communication:
Assist with customer-related inquiries regarding vehicle condition and any concerns related to post-delivery services or modifications.
β’ Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to safety standards and protocols while performing inspections and working with tools and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
β’ Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for improvement in the inspection process and suggest enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
Qualifications:
β’ Education:
β’ High school diploma or equivalent required.
β’ Vocational training or certification in automotive technology or a related field is preferred.
β’ Experience:
β’ Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in automotive diagnostics, maintenance, or inspections, preferably in a bus or heavy vehicle manufacturing environment.
β’ Experience with PDI processes in automotive or bus manufacturing is a plus.
β’ Skills:
β’ Strong understanding of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, suspension, HVAC, and braking systems.
β’ Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
β’ Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
β’ Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
β’ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
β’ Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
β’ Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
Physical and Job Requirements:
β’ Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to loud noise, dust, and various mechanical systems.
β’ Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
β’ Must be able to stand, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
β’ Ability to work with hand tools and mechanical equipment.
β’ Possess a valid D driving license / truck / buses.
