Job Highlights:
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team in Putrajaya. This position is critical in ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of our databases. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing database systems, performing regular maintenance, and providing technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Backup: Ensure successful daily database backups are executed in a timely manner.
- Error Management: Monitor and resolve critical errors to maintain database integrity.
- Tablespace Monitoring: Maintain a minimum of free space in database tablespaces.
- System Health Monitoring: Oversee CPU and memory usage in the RHEL database environment to ensure optimal performance.
- Load Management: Identify and investigate unusual load patterns on the database.
- Application Server Monitoring: Check the EM Application Server for user activities that may cause CPU spikes; terminate sessions exceeding limits if necessary.
- Disaster Recovery Oversight: Ensure disaster recovery processes are functioning continuously.
- Record Lock Management: Utilize SQL scripts to manage user access to locked data.
- Table Lock Management: Use SQL scripts to release locked data for user access.
- Data Extraction and Transformation: Collaborate with Application Engineers to extract reports and transform data into user-friendly formats (e.g., .csv, .txt, .xlsx).
- Database Maintenance: Conduct monthly maintenance activities to keep the database healthy.
- Reporting: Generate monthly reports for management review.
- Data Analysis: Analyze user-requested data and provide insights.
Objectives
- Effectively manage database operations and ensure system reliability.
- Continuously improve processes related to database management and performance monitoring.
- Act as a key resource for technical issues related to databases.
Requirements
- A minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are preferred.
- At least 2-5 years of experience in database administration or a similar technical role.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with RDBMS systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL).
- Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures, performance tuning, and security practices.
- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and process improvement.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
This role requires flexibility for weekend and night shifts, as well as availability for both planned and unplanned downtime. Candidates must be prepared to accommodate these scheduling requirements.
