The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Global Finance Auditor who can work independently, be able to assess risk and effectively communicate audit results to the highest level of Corporate and Division management on a given audit. This position may work out of our Willis Tower location or our Corporate Headquarters in Abbott Park, IL.
The individual will scope and plan for assigned audit engagements, including preparation of audit risk assessments, and planning to drive appropriate audit coverage, over the course of an 18–24-month rotation in Corporate Audit. The Sr. Global Finance Auditor will execute audit fieldwork using a risk-based approach to identify control gaps and other areas of exposure related to controls within Finance processes and deliver achievable, meaningful recommendations for management to mitigate. The individual should have the demonstrated ability to work well with others and be reliable. Sr. Global Finance Auditor is encouraged to leverage experience obtained and relationships developed over the course of the rotation to identify future career interests and opportunities in Abbott Finance.
What You’ll Work On
Perform financial audits of Abbott Laboratories’ domestic and international Affiliates.
Utilize skills and knowledge acquired from 3-6 years of public accounting experience to assess the accuracy of financial statements, adequacy of internal controls, and identify business process improvements.
Successfully complete audits from all stages of an audit: planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up.
Document all audit work performed in a clear, purposeful, and timely manner.
Provide input on risks and controls while maintaining independence.
Promote an effective team-oriented atmosphere and take initiative to assist in the on-boarding and development of new auditors.

Required Qualifications
BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
3-6 busy seasons in internal/external audit practice of a public accounting firm, Big 4 highly preferred
Ability to work with and analyze large amounts of data to assess audit scope and/or areas of risk
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley; experience in performing financial statement audits for SEC clients and/or SOX processes and controls
Project management experience including the ability to organize, prioritize and complete assignments with little or no supervision
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to advise on risk and control considerations
Manufacturing and/or international business experience is preferred
Ability to use discretion, sound judgment, and handle confidential information
CPA or other certification (CFE, CIA, CMA), highly preferred
40-60% travel to Abbott's International and Domestic locations required

CORE FUNCTIONS

Assists employees with security related matters, mediate disputes, conduct interviews, conduct searches, enforces parking regulations and traffic control. Serves as a security subject matter expert.
3. Assists medical staff in restraining and handling troubled/combative patients. Ensures security policies are being followed. Patrols unoccupied areas and sets the alarms when appropriate. Locks and unlocks facility doors at prescribed times. Conducts money pick-ups from departments, logs pick-ups and successfully delivers the contents to the appropriate destination department. Releases bodies from the morgue, ensuring that all paperwork is complete. Checks alarms to ensure they are in proper working order. Escorts patients, visitors and employees when required for security purposes. Participates in security lead training designed for staff.
4. Maintains current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Performs “citizen arrest” and demonstrate critical thinking skills during extremely stressful situations as needed.
5. Appropriately and effectively utilizes assigned non-lethal weapon according to policy and training.
6. Investigates and completes written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving patients, employees and visitors. Maintains an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift.
7. Professionally testifies in criminal court, state hearings and review boards when required.
8. Based on area of assignment may assist in the maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents including scanning into electronic patient health information systems.
9. Position reports directly to the Security Supervisor, or OIC in their absence. This position interacts internally with staff, physicians, visitors, volunteers and patients. External customers are law enforcement agencies and emergency service agencies. The position is system wide and officers may be assigned to work at any facility as needed. This position will provide guidance and direction to staff, visitors and patients during a security emergency. This position will be required to proactively identify, deter and respond to security incidents.
