Senior Director, Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT)
Role can be based in Austin, Texas or in Singapore
General Profile: Provide leadership and direction to a group of AMT professionals, is accountable for the performance and results of AMT. Participates, develops and executes various Operations Automation initiatives and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
· Developing, aligning and deploying a 3+ year roadmap to transform the level of automation and AI across worldwide manufacturing operations; roadmap includes necessary ROI supporting automation vision and strategic manufacturing objectives
· Creating partnerships with universities, suppliers and/or other parties to develop techniques in automation and/or AI that would bring competitive differentiation to Applied Materials operations
· Work across functional boundaries inside and outside WMO to align, develop and deploy automation platforms
· Benchmark corporations with proven differentiation and competitive advantages enabled by automation and AI solutions
· Transform the global operations culture to embrace automation through education, platform simplicity, and targeted capability development; includes process standardization and streamlining where required
· Work with New Product development, introduction, and transition functions to influence product design features that enable factory automation and the use of AI solutions to improve product quality performance and reduce manufacturing and installation cycle-time
· Partner with Engineering, BU manufacturing and other functions to define, influence and establish Design for Automation rules, guidelines and best practices
· Communicate decisions, direction and vision (both technical and otherwise) across organizational levels (from C-Suite to technicians)
· Manage organizational resistance to change through deployment of change champion techniques, including communication strategies
· Manage large complex automation projects spanning multiple quarters with the participation of several external and internal functions
Functional Knowledge:
- Advanced engineering degree
- Knowledge of MES and product test systems
- Knowledge of assembly, integration and test procedures, practices and tools
- Knowledge of technologies and tools used in designing and deploying automation systems (data, software, self-contained systems, system integration etc.)
- Experience developing, deploying and maintaining complex equipment
- Experience managing complex engineering projects, including global change management
- Experience evaluating technology for use cases, and to mesh with a long-term roadmap
- Experience developing deep engineering capabilities through a mix of academic and on the job projects
Business Expertise:
Applies in-depth knowledge of Operations processes, Automation and AI Adoption to differentiate AMAT Operations from competition.
Leadership:
Leads the Central Automation Excellence team, develops and executes on Automation Strategy, plan and achieves desired business outcomes; leads global team of automation engineers
Problem Solving:
Evaluates key business challenges, directs the development of solutions.
Impact:
Guided by company and WWO Strategy and business objectives, impacts results of WMO particularly on Safety, Cost and Business Growth.
Interpersonal Skills
Influences and negotiates at the top executive levels (Operations Management, Engineering and BUs) , with great latitude on outcomes, presents and defends complicated issues and solutions persuasively.
Education:
Advanced Degree in Engineering
Experience:
15+ years of Operations and Engineering Experience.
