The Opportunity

Abbott is seeking candidates for the position of Procurement Senior Specialist to support multiple categories: Biologics, Chemicals and membranes based out of Lake Forest, IL. This role will be expected to develop and lead assigned Category Procurement Strategies across the assigned regions for Abbott’s Rapid Diagnostics business, working closely with Abbott’s Global Procurement team to drive synergies. They will:

• Work closely with key stakeholders in both Corporate and Division organizations to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.
• Be accountable for building and nurturing stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, helping identify critical business requirements and providing sourcing and procurement services.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and lead category strategies in collaboration with senior leadership and execute to completion that have impact upon global business.
• Anticipates internal/external business challenges and drives change.
• Lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives. Lead project teams responsible for selection of category strategy. Recruit, mentor, train and develop talent.
• Research and evaluate business requirements and suppliers.

• Solves complex problems and proposes practical solutions.

• Support the development and completion of contracts, CDAs, statement of work (SOW) and standard operating procedure (SOP).

• Recommend process improvements to streamline for efficiencies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Supply Chain, Business and/or Technical area (e.g. Biological Sciences).
• Class A, APICS, Lean or Six Sigma certification or experience preferred.
• 3-6 years of procurement, supply chain or operations experience.
• Experience in a highly regulated matrix environment.
• Experience dealing with Privacy data requirements and contracting (PII, HIPAA, PCI, PHI).
• Skilled negotiator with knowledge of contract structures and language.
• Change manager with strong influencing skills.
• Mastery of excel including proficiency in excel and other analytical tools.

The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. As an Associate Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting a Third Party Manufacturing (TPM) site leading and coordinating critical sustaining and NPI projects.  Coordinates with technical support personnel to conduct prototype or experimental runs of products or processes and ship products. Partners with Abbott Diabetes Care teams across the division and suppliers as needed to execute projects. Performs tasks such as generating POs and invoicing, developing and managing project timelines for new SKU introductions, component changes, equipment changes, supplier change notifications, etc. Works with cross divisional functions to drive sustaining projects. Resolves problems, such as production process deviations, vendor deviations from specification, urgent out-of-stock replacements, and crisis situations requiring fast, astute decisions with rapid implementation by utilizing technical training and experience. This is an onsite opportunity in Buffalo Grove, IL.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Plans and conducts small- to medium-size assigned projects such as packaging material changes from procurement to implementation, changes to component materials, and changes to equipment. Coordinates and monitors activities/projects including engineering trials and feasibility studies. Reviews plans and monitors status of implementation for assigned projects. Employs contingency plans to recover from schedule slippage and financial overruns when appropriate, e.g. tracks actual expense compared to target for own project. Facilitates the definition of a project scope with other functions. Estimates and coordinates resources needed (materials, budget, time and people) to accomplish assigned individual tasks, e.g. coordinates work with TPM resources and ADC resources.  
• Support day to day site operations activities such as engineering and feasibility studies through various factories, GMI projects, processing of quotes and tracking them through invoicing, drive component change discussions and implementation utilizing project management skills.
• TECHNICAL/DESIGN: Benchmarks internally and externally. Recognizes changes in the environment and present resources as indicators of future problems and opportunities. Prepares for such eventualities, e.g. initiates plan to acquire new engineering skills required by changes in technology, drives process changes based on benchmarking.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Senior Quality Engineer, you are responsible for developing and maintaining quality engineering methodologies and providing quality engineering support within new product development, manufacturing, or system/services support for the Tipp City Nutrition manufacturing site.

This position is a full-time, on-site, short-term position dedicated to the expansion project team.  At project completion, this role will be absorbed and the employee will be directed to apply for a current opening within Abbott that matches their qualifications.  We expect to provide support to the person to assist them with their search for another opportunity within the company.  Targeted project completion is at the end of 2026.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

• Identify and implement effective process control systems to support the development and qualification of a new production line to meet or exceed internal and external requirements
• Lead process monitoring and control of Critical to Quality parameters and specifications
• Participate in or lead teams in supporting quality decisions and practices (e.g., represent the Quality function as a Core Team Member)
• Design and conduct experiments for process optimization and/or improvement
• Appropriately document experiment plans and results, including protocol writing and reports
• Work with design engineering in the completion of product verification and validation
• Work with packaging to ensure the appropriate process controls are considered in the product and process development activities
• Support all Divisional initiatives as identified by divisional management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements
• Provide design and front-end planning input to project teams related to sanitation and cGMPs for new/upgraded/changed  plant areas/equipment/facilities.
• Assures area of responsibility complies with cGMP’s, FDA regulations and other practices outlined by federal statutes or other regulatory/certifying agencies.
• Assure Food Safety hazard analysis, procedural changes, and other Food Safety related activities are conducted for all new and/or upgraded plant systems, equipment, or facilities.
• Help to design and implement new and revised quality processes, procedures, facility/equipment additions/changes/upgrades to sustain compliance with the changing business needs.
• Assess the impact of new/upgraded/changed plant areas have across the Quality Systems of the plant and work with those area leaders to incorporate those changes into routine operations.
• Review equipment changes, validation packages, preventive and routine maintenance work orders and other related documents specific to their area of responsibility including new plant areas or plant/equipment/facility upgrades and changes.
• Assist in the development and execution of streamlined business systems which effectively identify and resolve quality issues
• Apply sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues
• Lead in the completion and maintenance of risk analysis
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
• Basic understanding of plant and facility operations with an extensive background in cGMP’s and Food Safety in a food manufacturing environment.
• You’ll also be accountable for providing excellent customer service to the production teams and meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

​REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical field OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 5+ years relevant experience
• Engineering experience and demonstrated use of Quality tools/methodologies
• Detailed knowledge of FDA, GMP, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971
• Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
• Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
• Strong project management and leadership skills, including the demonstrated ability to lead multi-departmental project teams and resolve quality-related issues in a timely and effective manner
• Advanced computer skills, including statistical/data analysis and report writing skills
• Experience implementing various product and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing).

The Opportunity

This role is based out of our Abbott Park, IL location for a Accountant who applies understanding of accounting principles and requirements to support business needs with a continuous improvement mentality.  Adheres to forecasting excellence and creates dynamic and agile analysis to support business decisions.  Reviews and explains information with sound communication skills.  Suggests recommendations and helps implement problem resolution. 

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Manage data loaded to the Corporate Planning and Reporting System

• Use Accpac general ledger system employing Fund Accounting

• Post JEs and compiles financial statements. Crowe Horwath CPA audits annually and prepares tax return.

• Support external audit and tax/filings payments including Abbott Fund Tanzania Ltd, a related party under the Abbott Fund and consolidated into the Abbott Fund.

• Perform bank reconciliations and other reconciliations Accpac/ Symphony general ledger (e.g.: CAR reports and grants)

• Coordinate Annual Global Contributions Reporting with Affiliate accounting for OUS contributions and revenue divisions for US contributions. An SOP documents these processes.

• Prepare reports for Contribution Surveys for review and submission by Grants Manager

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. 

Accounting knowledge of theory and practice based largely on education. 
Strong Excel skills required.

This may also include an analyst with up to two years of experience beyond his/her degree.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Manufacturing Operator, Processing is responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system for our Tipp City, Ohio location.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

• Preparation/operation/monitoring/documentation of bulk slurries for blending operations

• Preparation/operation/monitoring/documentation of computer-controlled heat treatment processes

• Preparation/operation/monitoring/documentation of computer-controlled blending processes 

• Weighing/documenting/staging, utilizing a computer-controlled weigh system for batch ingredients

• Preparation/operation/monitoring/documentation of a computer-controlled clean-in-place (CIP) system utilized for manufacturing equipment (i.e. tanks, heat treatment system, etc.)

• Preparation/perform/document product Line work operations (i.e. Standardization/Final Water using ingredients, flavors, oils etc.)

• Maintain area GMP compliance through routine cleaning of equipment, general area and preventative maintenance of equipment; adherence to batch work order and job procedures, while recording/maintaining accurate documentation

The Opportunity

Our location in Abbott Park, IL currently has an opportunity for a Commercial Litigation Paralegal. 

The Paralegal is a strong individual contributor to the Litigation department working towards the successful resolution of commercial litigation matters, having the potential to substantially impact the Company’s business operations.  

What You’ll Work On

• Assists attorneys to resolve routine and moderately complex to complex legal matters that involve various functional areas or divisions within Abbott with minimal supervision;
• Independently identifies problems, performs analysis and proposes solutions to a more experienced paralegal or attorney;
• Possesses solid knowledge of Abbott’s businesses supported and knowledge of the broader business impact;
• Represents Legal Division internally to clients; and
• Reviews invoices associated with payment for services, ensuring costs are reasonable, in scope of work performed and meet outside counsel billing guidelines.
• Independently manages discovery for commercial litigation matters, having a substantial impact to the Company, and performs all tasks timely:
• Assists with initial fact investigation for potential and pending litigation;
• Prepares and sends out legal holds to the appropriate employees within the company and manages legal hold compliance and questionnaire responses;
• Schedules and attends witness interviews;
• Identifies relevant document and data sources, coordinates collection of company documents for discovery and other requests;
• Assists in deposition preparation of company witnesses by analyzing the information and determining relevancy; and Assists counsel with trial preparation.
• Responds to subpoenas and requests for information with minimal supervision, including identification, collection, review and preparation of documents for production.
• Manages outside counsel, outside paralegals and vendors and eDiscovery vendor budget for assigned matters.
• Provides support on periodic and special projects.
• Executes core job responsibilities in a timely manner.
• Assigned matters generally have a significant impact on business activities and operations.
• Interacts across all levels of management within the Company.
• No direct department budget responsibility; must however operate within budget.  Develops estimates for outside counsel fees for assigned legal matters with supervision from more experienced paralegals and/or attorneys.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and relevant legal education (Paralegal certificate)

The Opportunity

The Manager, SOX Financial Audit will assist Audit Director in planning and managing SOX audits including supervising a team of 4 staff auditors.  Individual will review and manage testing of SOX key controls tested by Internal Audit.  Additionally, individual will be involved with several process improvement initiatives and will frequently interact with Audit VP, Division Controllers, Senior Controllership Managers, and Directors. Continually recruit, train and develop professional staff, including goal setting and performance management.  A high level of interpersonal and communication skills is essential.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead and complete the SOX project plan for internal audit tested controls, ensuring efficient and timely execution of controls testing.
• Work with Partners and Managers of external audit firm’s home office and worldwide offices to plan and define the scope of the SOX audits to be undertaken.  Coordinate internal audit efforts with those of external auditors.
• Continually recruit, train, develop and place into the worldwide organization, high potential finance, accounting, IT and compliance professionals.  A high level of analytical, interpersonal and communication skills is essential.
• Assists in various internal controls/SOX Program related initiatives to be aligned with the needs of key stakeholders (i.e., business process owners/SOX PMO/external auditor)
• Identify opportunities to streamline, increase automation and rationalize controls; making recommendations to improve the underlying process and controls.
• Communicate openly about areas of concern or uncertainty to ensure high-quality, value added, accurate results.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree, with a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Business from a four-year college or university
• 6+ years related work experience (Audit and/or Controls & Compliance).  Part of the experience would have been obtained from employment with a major Public Accounting firm and/or as a member of an internal audit staff performing SOX audits or operational audits; or a combination of these prerequisites.
• Strong, in-depth knowledge of SOX, COSO, PCAOB, and US GAAP.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to foreign business practices and diverse cultures, including extensive first-hand experience interacting with management styles and methods in multiple countries.
• Excellent supervisory and mentorship skills and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels on a one-to-one basis.
• Strong communication and analytical skills, with ability to multi-task and meet targets.
• A capacity for learning and a desire to keep abreast of the developments in the profession and be capable of promotion to higher levels of management.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%.

What You’ll Work On

Center of Excellence Description:

The Core Dx DHQ Center of Excellence is a best in class FP&A organization that drives standardization and efficiencies across Core Dx, provides insightful and value added analytics, and serves as a talent pipeline into the division.  The Center of Excellence is responsible for the preparation and analytical review of cost center budgets and other standard financial reports, spanning across Commercial, DHQ, IT, Marketing, and R&D organizations for LBE's and confirmations.  Analytical review includes understanding of the key causals that drive change versus multiple benchmarks.  On-going process initiatives are also required to improve and strengthen financial processes, procedures, and systems supporting these areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Support the Core Dx Diagnostics Finance areas with a wide variety of financial analysis and projects.  This supervisor role will have the following responsibilities: 

• Manage at least one direct report, ensuring appropriate development of staff
• Responsible for the Consolidation and Reporting of Total Core Dx Sales to DVP Controller, including weekly, monthly, and LBE reporting periods
• Responsible for consolidation of Total Core Dx Gross Margin for Actuals and LBE
• Responsible for the consolidation and reconciliation of the Annual standard cost change process
• Prepare monthly and LBE reports for senior management
• Support Global Commercial team, including sales reporting and monthly close tasks
• Assist in identification and implementation of process improvements
• Interaction with different levels of management, both finance and operational
• Financial modeling with extensive use of Excel
• Creation of SOPs (standard operating procedures) for repeatable tasks
• Special Ad Hoc projects

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years finance/accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance or accounting
• Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel and Powerpoint). Proficiency in HFM Smartview, SAP and/or TM1 is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

The Opportunity

Our location in Abbott Park, IL currently has an opportunity for a Manager, Corporate Relations. 

The Manager, Corporate Relations has primary responsibility for the management and execution of corporate projects, programs and events. Charged with managing internal and external relationships with key stakeholders to influence outcomes that will positively promote Abbott's reputation. Is responsible for managing operations at Abbott House, a small museum and cultural center on Abbott’s headquarters campus, including events and daily operations. The Opportunity

This Quality Training Specialist position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition Division.  This position could have some off shift requirements.

• Lead and support QA training requirements across the AN manufacturing site.
• Provide direction and guidance to the QA Training resources at the site.  Manages the team's workload and is responsible for performance management.
• Support the business by assessing the learning need and developing/modifying QA training materials in accordance with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate) principles.
• Apply Adult Learning Principles to QA course development.
• Develop QA training content and materials based on AN's learning methodology.
• Design and develop QA microlearning's, computer-based-training, instructor-led-training, job aides and other training support materials as needed.

What You’ll Work On

• Provide ongoing QA training support to the manufacturing site to ensure a compliant training requirements management system.  This includes QA onboarding and identification of site QA training needs.  Will support QA training needs related to CAPA and audit actions.
• Create, maintain and update User accounts and training assignments in the Learning Management System.
• Work closely with Division QA and site QA leadership to continuously improve QA training.
• Design, develop and deliver QA Training Courses/materials to meet business needs.
• Provide guidance and direction to QA training resources at the site.  Balances the teams workload and is responsible for performance management.
• Sets annual performance goals.  Identify barriers/obstacles to achieving agreed upon goals and escalate as needed to Regional QA Training Manager.
• Help to conduct QA training needs assessments and gap analysis.
• Help establish training effectiveness measures and evaluate QA training effectiveness.  Analyze data to drive continuous improvement of QA training content.
• Conduct business in a manner that will protect our product, our customers and our brand by complying with all applicable AQR and Division policies and procedures, EHS laws, as well as the Abbott Global and Technical Standards.
• Follow a structured approach to QA Training/Learning content/material development.
• Develop QA training in a variety of formats to support the business (i.e.; instructor-led-training, computer-based-training, training modules, microlearning’s, 1PLs, On-the-Job-Training (OJT) and competency assessments.
• Participate in Global and Site Cross-Functional Teams to assist with the development of global QA courses/training materials.  Helps to ensure applicability of new courses to the site.
• Working closely with Division QA, will help bring new technologies to QA training to help enhance/improve the learning process.  For example, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), hybrid learning.
• Interface with SMEs; business functional areas and site QA as necessary to design and develop QA training courses/materials.
• When needed, will help support Project Safeguard workstreams training requests.  Will translate identified training needs into QA training/learning solutions in line with project timelines.
• Responsible for the ongoing evaluation and implementation of continuous improvement in relation to QA training/learning materials/courses.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Education, Science Engineering, Human Resources, Business, or Instructional Design OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Nutrition or other FDA regulated industry.
• Experience developing training courses/materials, reviewing existing quality training courses.
• Experience utilizing word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

• Some knowledge of adult learning delivery techniques and general principles of adult learning a plus.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Manage 1 or more projects with moderate complexity.  Expedite, manage, and coordinate a multitude of interrelated activities within constraints of limited human and financial resources and changing priorities.  Complies with quality system. May be required to establish / manage project budget.

Previous quality leadership experience preferred – areas include implementing/maintaining an effective & compliant Quality Systems.  Experience in coordinating teams in related areas to identify and promote best practices worldwide.

Leading and improving Facility, Utility, Equipment, Software, Cleaning, Test Method, Process and Design. Experience of leading or supporting regulatory audits in related areas and any associated resolution of observations.

 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Expertise and Problem-Solving Duties:
•    Coordinate input from multiple areas or multiple project managers on related projects. Identify resource requirements, cost, and time schedules. Develop an implementation plan, conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to accommodate unforeseen events.
•    Lead cross-functional teams through project planning exercises to develop detailed schedules and integrated project plans.
•    Define the nature of the stated business or technical problem. Analyze date for true causes of problems. Develop project specifications and objectives, strategies, timelines and milestones/design and development plan. Utilize project scheduling software to plan and track projects.
•    Develop alternatives to major business problems.  Assist management in selecting the specific action plans that will best meet the identified long-term business issues. Anticipate long-term future problems, resolve current issues, learn and adjust based on prior results and prior project leadership experience.
•    Assure that projects will effectively integrate with existing programs and strategies so that long- and short-term business goals are attained. Recognize the broader implications of actions and proposals on the final project outcome, related systems and activities, and general business strategy.
•    Prepare and present project progress reports to keep management and team informed. Identify problems, their resolution, trends, and their impact on project success; propose recommendations for management action.
•    Accountability/Required Supervision:
•    Negotiate project outcomes and deliverables to meet the conflicting demands of time, money and deadlines. Maintain project expenses within budget.
•    May function as the project contact with third party vendors.
•    Provide leadership on strategic business issues. Drive cross-functional teams to meet milestones and deliverables established in project planning and agreed upon with senior leadership.
•    Accountable for the total project scope; completion within budget constraints and scheduled completion date. Accountable for the successful completion of project tasks under direct or matrix control. Level loads work to ensure effective use of available resources.
•    Leadership Activities:
•    Solicit the cooperation of a diverse group of disciplines and functions in a tactful and persuasive manner.
•    Lead others in the completion of project tasks. Manage a cross-functional team which may consist of senior level individual contributors. Creates a work environment that supports team effectiveness. Provides feedback to team members on performance.
•    Manage the decision-making process. Is the final decision-maker for conflicts when in context of agreed upon project plan.
•    Level of interpersonal skills:
•    Interact with senior level management to reach agreement regarding significant program strategies. Interface with other disciplines, customers, internal clients, and project staff and internal/ external experts as required.
•    Prepare and presents written and oral reports and other presentations to internal and external audiences. Adjusts presentation style and content to suit the audience.
•    Negotiate resources, both human and financial.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelor's Degree in a discipline appropriate to the project.

Minimum of 10 years of related work experience. Has successfully led several high complexity projects from beginning to end. Demonstrated technical skills and management judgment appropriate to the project and demonstrated expertise in PM tools and processes.

The base pay for this position is

$125,300.00 – $250,700.00
