A WG-6912-7, MATERIALS EXAMINER & IDENTIFIER:

• Performs the full range of examining and identifying duties for the most complex categories of materiel and equipment, including electronic, mechanical, perishable, radioactive, and assemblies and components. Inspects, receives, sorts, counts, identifies, and is knowledgeable of special handling techniques and procedures required for the processing of hazardous and toxic materiel such as explosives, toxic chemicals, flammables, gas cylinders, radioactive material, hazardous waste and medical waste. Examine clothing, textiles, requiring sensory judgment as well as subjective measurement.
• Receives or rejects materiel, equipment, including non-standard equipment, and complex assemblies for the facility based on their knowledge of products, equipment, and procedures as well as having the ability to determine subtle and inconspicuous defects. May be required to perform pre-receipt examination of property on site at the generation point. Schedules the receipt of property and assures that the property is identified to include identification of all contaminants. Handles damaged and unidentified shipments requiring repair/repacking or return to the supplier in accordance with established procedures. As appropriate, performs or initiates required testing, e.g. radioactive surveys/wipe tests, prepares sample for submission to environmental laboratories for analysis.
• Determines acceptance, serviceability and distribution requirements for perishable, classified, precious metals, textiles, clothing, complex electronic/mechanical equipment, assemblies and components. Uses catalog data/drawings, item specifications, or computerized data to verify/determine/classify items for turn-in, storage or distribution. Performs extensive research on equipment specifications using automated systems, technical manuals and supply bulletins to determine any special requirements for complex items passing through the storage and distribution area.
• Packs, cushions, apply preservatives and protect property as appropriate; ensures packaging meets regulatory requirements.
• May serve as a member of the USPFO Emergency Response Team. Ensures the required actions are taken to contain and clean up spills within assigned work area. Ensures lower graded workers are trained to act in his/her absence. Decontaminates and replenishes spill equipment and supplies within assigned work area. Ensures spill incident reports are prepared IAW applicable regulations.
• Assures adherence to storage compatibility and determines the need for special handling/storage of certain property (e.g. friable asbestos, PCB's, batteries, pesticides, etc.). Performs research of complex shipping and storage records, and commercial vendor contracts. Obtains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) using the automated system for material identification and advises lower graded workers on specialized handling and packaging procedures. Initiates corrective action to resolve manifest discrepancies.
• Performs a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, inspecting for defects, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. Develops, or assists in the development of plans for storage and arrangement of stock. Determines warehouse configuration, setup, movement, and space utilization plans, as regards to hazardous materiel, in accordance with regulations for a specific commodity or equipment group.
• May be required to prepare for and support the mission through the accomplishment of duties pertaining to military training, military readiness, force protection and other mission related assignments including, but not limited to, training of traditional Guard members, CWDE/NBC training, exercise participation (ORE/ORI/UCI/MEI/OCI/IG, etc.), mobility exercise participation, FSTA/ATSO exercise participation, SABC training, LOAC training, weapons qualification training, participation in military formations, and medical mobility processing within the guidelines of NGB/ARNG/ANG/State/TAG rules, regulations and laws.

As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (SSC), WG-5703-9, serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with the responsibility for the overall operations of a small shop. The position oversees and directs works of one or more Motor Vehicle Operators, WG-5703, who are assigned to the shop. The incumbent performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop. This position is located in the USPFO in Flowood, MS.

DUTIES:
(1) Serves as a Small Shop Chief performing all of the following tasks:
(a) Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s).
(b) Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program.
(c) Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements.
(d) Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance.
(e) Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
(f) Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
(g) May provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc.

(2) Performs the same type and level of work as performed within the unit.

(3) Performs other duties as assigned.

As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, WG-5703-8, transport supplies and equipment intra and inter State using a variety of wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers or to tow or recover equipment. Vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, and over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions. This position is located in the USPFO at Camp Shelby.

(1) Operates primarily straight-in-line trucks and/or truck tractors with semi-trailers which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds. Required to operate special purpose or auxiliary devices where a knowledge of such devices does not exceed the level of knowledge and skill required to operate the vehicle safely in complicated traffic situations. Couples and uncouples the truck tractor and semi-trailer, or truck and trailer, and connects and disconnects the air brakes and electrical lines. Maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles, between parked aircraft and when positioning vehicles at loading docks. When driving tractor-trailer refueling trucks, they operate the vehicle's auxiliary pumping system and verify correct grade or mixture of fuel is pumped, that the receiving equipment is grounded and fuel tanks are not overfilled. Also record type and quantity of fuel delivered. Check to ensure all cargo is secured to prevent shifting or falling in transit and to minimize the possibility of vehicle sway. Select the safest, most direct and legally allowed route to be followed and identify alternative routes to be used in the event of an emergency. Driver operates vehicles on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipulates the dual braking system to prevent the semi-trailer or trailer from jackknifing. Assures cargo is properly loaded, distributed and secured. Performs operator maintenance on vehicles and trailers.

(2) Ensures shipping and accounting documents are with the shipment and reflect actual condition, quantities and type of material, including manual turn in and issue documents. Completes log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportation documents for accurate accounting. May identify, inspect, and segregate equipment or material as it is received for obvious damage and needed repairs.

(3) Prepares and submits requests for over-dimensional permits to Defense Movement Coordinator (DMC) for military movement involving military vehicles and through the Commercial Transportation Branch for non-military vehicles. Coordinates with units, maintenance activities, Central Issue Facility (CIF), Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO), Property Book Office (PBO), and Single Stock Fund Activities for pick up and delivery. When appropriate, ensures transported items meet demilitarization standards (for example drainage statements, tanks are purged and weapons), and appropriate certification/verification accompanies the items..

(4) Performs warehouse work, as required, to include issuing, receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and materials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking material; and repairing or replacing items on equipment. Operates electric, gasoline or diesel-powered forklift trucks.

(5) Performs a variety of servicing and operator preventive maintenance work on assigned vehicles.

(6) Accomplishes the full spectrum of support for state and Federal National Guard operations, training, readiness missions, natural disasters, and Homeland Defense/Defense Support of Civil Authorities (HLD/DSCA).

(7) Performs other duties as assigned.

As a Safety Specialist with the Texas Army National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

• Implements plans, policies and procedures to comply with DOD, DA, OSHA and NGB safety regulations and directives. Provides technical expertise to managers and supervisors in establishing techniques and procedures for the elimination or control of unsafe behaviors, environments and hazards. Plans and conducts periodic and unscheduled surveys and inspections of all ARNG facilities including ammunition storage, warehouse, and equipment maintenance facilities, to determine compliance with OSHA standards. Posts notices of unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Assigns risk assessment codes, and prepares abatement plans and time frames of elimination of hazards. Observes work methods and recommends to supervisors/managers corrective measures to eliminate unsafe work practices. Serves as a technical representative to State Safety Councils and Committees. • Evaluates the effectiveness of organizational safety programs through activity visits. Develops countermeasure programs to prevent or reduce accidents and hazardous conditions. Makes assessments based on conformance with established ARNG policies and safety criteria, OSHA standards, and work requirements. Coordinates with operating activities to provide safety training, and ensures safety awareness throughout the ARNG. Plans, schedules, and conducts safety demonstrations, lectures, meetings and conferences. Prepares or assists supervisors in preparing materials for safety meetings. Ensures preparation of graphs, charts, and other informational materials pertaining to accident trends and other aspects of the safety programs. Maintains close liaison with federal, state, municipal, and private industry to obtain safety materials and to facilitate adaptation of industrial safety practices to military methods. May coordinate utilization of laboratories, equipment and safety training materials and/or facilities. (20%)
• Provides technical assistance in accident investigations. Participates in fatality investigations as a team member. Conducts comprehensive investigations in cases of fatal or multiple injury accidents to determine causes and procedures for eliminating a recurrence. Collects, reviews and ensures timely submission of all accident reports to the DA Safety Center and ARNG Safety Office. Codes DA Form 285. Evaluates and analyzes all pertinent accident data toisolate significant facts and trends (seasonal accidents, location of hazards, extent of injuries and property damage, etc.). Plans corrective actions and recommends specific measures to correct unfavorable accident trends. Prepares state safety standards for local implementation, writes regulations and prepares safety articles for state publications. Prepares SOPs pertaining to safety for special military training exercises and coordinates training and appointment of unit or organizational safety personnel. Conducts preliminary reviews of engineering plans for alteration or construction of buildings, structures, maintenance areas, machines or roadways to ensure integration of accident prevention principles (proper lighting, machine guards, ventilation, positioning of ground support equipment, proper placement of safety signs, markings, etc.).Provides technical guidance and direction to personnel involved in hazardous operations. Observes work areas and practices where dangerous conditions or operations exist. Develops safety checklists and distributes such to assist activities in conducting internal safety reviews. (20%)

Coordinates hazardous material movement with the Department of Transportation (DOT). Investigates ARNG employee OSHA/Safety complaints with the Labor Relations Specialist or other HRO representatives. Classifies seriousness of complaint and determines abatement process and time frame. Surveys, inspects, certifies, and recertifies indoor/outdoor ranges. Processes renewal request for nonstandard range waivers. (15%)

May oversee the work of one or two employees performing safety functions and perform duties such as, providing on the job training; informing subordinates of agency policies and programs; and identifying developmental and training needs of employees and recommending formal training. This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to perform field and sustainment maintenance and repair on moderately complex electronics equipment and systems.

1. Performs troubleshooting and routine repairs on individual components and moderately complex systems of launch pod/containers (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assemblies (M/LPA), trainer missile
simulator modules, and various like items. Troubleshoots carrier electrical and power distributions systems components of the weapon system or equipment being repaired.

2. Performs functional tests, analyzes performance and malfunctions, removes, installs, tests, maintains, modifies, performs alignments and troubleshoots the electronic, electrical, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical, and communication equipment.

3. Performs field and limited sustainment maintenance to include installation, routine maintenance, repair, and overhaul of fixed and mobile operational communication and electronics systems, e.g., shelter mounted AM radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted single side band radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted radio relay and terminal systems, other moderately complex systems, peripheral equipment, and related test equipment, and Modification Table Of Equipment (MTOE) authorized automation equipment.

4. Uses various types of test equipment to include systems test sets and stands such as AN/GRM-122s, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators to localize trouble by component unit, by circuit within a component, and by element of a circuit. Uses special and common hand tools, power tools, and gauges to make intricate repairs.

5. Performs administrative functions in establishing and maintaining maintenance records on equipment maintained or repaired. Assists in the preparation of requests for required repair parts.

6. May conduct or be involved in a Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team (MAIT) or act as an inspector on a Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET) on electronic, automation, communication, and equipment. Provides technical assistance and instruction to units throughout the state so that they will be able to operate at the desired level of proficiency.

As a WELDER (TITLE 32), WG-3703-10, you will perform welding duties using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes, pre-heating, brazing, head welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating. Use templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify, or fabricate metal items including repair of light or intricately made mechanical parts, which must fit in assemblies where close tolerances are required. Makes numerous types of joints using flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions on light and heavy equipment such as axles, frames, gun mounts and components, carriers, tanks, metal decks constructed of a variety of weldable metals. Welds or reinforces heavy armor plate. Performs precision welding on jigs, dies, engineering and automotive equipment.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling. Work may be done in awkward and cramped positions such as when welding in hard to reach places. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds and, occasionally, objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifts and carries heavier items with assistance.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather, and in areas that are noisy, dirty, and smoky. Exposed to fumes, infrared and ultraviolet radiation, heat, flying sparks, and the glare of torches and heated materials. There is possibility of eye injury, electrical shock, burns, broken bones, and the chance of cuts when working with sharp objects. There is also discomfort when wearing protective clothing, gloves, and flash shield or eye goggles.

As an, Supply Technician, GS-2005-07, you will serve as manager for assigned materials. Maintain accounting and reporting systems for federal property and performs routine phases of material accountability. Receives, validates and distributes materials using STAMIS daily, weekly and monthly cycle outputs. Receives suspense documents from supervisor and manages workflow of assigned materials. Processes manager controlled item exception requests. Manages and reviews Authorized Stockage List (ASL). Manages and reviews requirements to ensure proper type and amount of supplies are available to support requirements. Coordinates supply requirements with item managers at the National Inventory Control Point (NICP), General Services Administration (GSA), Defense Logistics Agencies (DLA), and Defense Reutilization Marketing Service (DRMS) as applicable. As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-2005-7, you will analyze possible redistribution of equipment through transfer, loan or assignment. Review and process external as well as internal loans/leases that may impact readiness or mission requirements. Processes and accounts for through agency coordination the in coming and outgoing federal property assignment. Processes and tracks equipment changes in Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) or Table of Distribution and Allowance (TDA). As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-5801-10, you will troubleshoot, perform maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Utilize embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Remove and disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Make the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures. Conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. There is frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching; or working on top of, under, and in tight compartments or cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds; and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. This position is located in the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS G-4), Logistics Management Division, Defense Movement Coordination Branch. The purpose of this position is to support the Defense Movement Coordinator (DMC) with the planning and preparation of unit movement plans and management of military convoy operations.

1. Supports the DMC with the planning and execution of unit movements, and management of military convoys for all services moving within or passing through the state. Provides technical assistance to the DMC with coordination of peacetime and mobilization movements of units using military t transportation assets. Assists with the preparation, maintenance, and execution of training and contingency movement plans for mobilization, homeland security and deployment of ARNG units located within the state. Ensures that all requirements necessary to execute the plans have been identified and coordinated.

2. Provides assistance in reviewing and validating Unit Movement Plans (UMP) and Unit Movement Data (UMD) prior to submission to Forces Command (FORSCOM). Provides training and assistance to units and activities in the preparation and data entry of associated current federal operating systems and may be required to serve as a Functional Manager for assigned systems. Presents instruction and assists in training Intermediate Command Unit Movement Officers (IC-UMO's) and Unit Movement Officers. Conducts visits to active and reserve component installations to coordinate mobilizations, annual trainings, and unit load plans. Accomplishes the full spectrum of support for state and Federal National Guard operations, training, readiness missions, natural disasters, and Homeland Defense/Defense Support of Civil Authorities (HLD/DSCA).

3. Coordinates with the various State Departments of Transportation (DOT) to determine highway availability, restrictions, and permit requirements. Processes requests for use of the Strategic and State Highway Network within the state. Obtains and issues approved permits. Coordinates movements directly with local, state, and federal agencies. Receives, reviews and processes requests for convoy clearance using the Mobilization Movement Control System (MOBCON) and issues Convoy Movement Orders (CMO) which provides assigned routes and scheduled movement times to convoy commanders. Collects, evaluates, and monitors information necessary to modify the Strategic and State Highway Network Database to meet DOD movement requirements. Represents the DMC as the alternate representative to the State Emergency Highway Traffic Regulation (EHTR) Center when activated. Assists with the organization, supervision, and operation of the State Movement Control Center (SMCC). Monitors movements of military units, resolves conflicts, receives and forwards movement reports. Coordinates changes to priorities and revises pre-planned movement schedules.

4. Provides official estimates of post mobilization transportation capabilities and requirements and disseminates information to appropriate military commands. Plans, coordinates, and participates in the highway movement portion of exercises involving military, civil defense, state or local echelons of government, in practice alerts, command post exercises, field training exercises and emergency operations simulations. Observes testing of unit load plans. Conducts the transportation portions of mobilization exercises. Makes recommendations for correction of noted deficiencies to the DMC and recommends changes. Reviews records on the location and type of military, state, and federal transportation assets within the state. Advises the DMC on operational employment of transportation assets during emergencies, alerts, and mobilization. Recommends changes in distribution of equipment to support contingency operations.

5. Assists the DMC in day to day management of the General Services Administration (GSA) Vehicle Fleet as well as assigned Transportation Motor Pool (TMP) assets. Reviews monthly billing for vehicles leased through the GSA program, reconciles billing statement and processes for payment. Assists the DMC and provides input in the formulation of the GSA Vehicle Fleet budget. Assists the DMC in maintaining, inspecting, and verifying serviceability of Army containers. Inspects container and submits maintenance report to the Container Control Officer (CCO) for entry into the Army Container Asset Management System (ACAMS). Coordinates with the CCO to ensure property book accountability and movement of containers.

This position is located in an Army National Guard (ARNG)Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) or Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). The primary purpose of this position is to pilot a variety of aircraft in support of the AASF or AVCRAD logistical and operations missions.

Pilots a variety of utility helicopters to transport passengers and cargo to and from a variety of points. Operates aircraft with short takeoff and landing capability, generally in good or fair weather conditions, but may include all types of weather, day and night over terrain such as forests, marshlands, mountain ranges, and open seas. Flights are to modern airports with paved runways, with navigational aids, good landing facilities and some unimproved or tactical landing pads and strips. Participates in all-weather search and rescue operations as required. Serves as a member of boards pertaining to aviation accidents, flight evaluation, collateral investigations, standardization and federal recognition.

Performs maintenance operation checks (MOCs) and limited and general test flights of aircraft to ensure air worthiness upon completion of extensive disassembly for maintenance, repair or replacement of components or aircraft systems. Performs general or limited test flights of aircraft when ground diagnostic tests cannot determine the safe and/or proper functioning of aircraft components or systems. Provides formal or informal training so users understand the relationships of the system and are able to work with the system without undue interruption. Tests and analyzes system malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems. Analyzes, evaluates, and resolves malfunctions by adjusting equipment configurations, realigning port allocations, recommending appropriate acquisitions, and distinguishing between equipment, software, and operation problems. Assists in solving problems associated with deliveries in support of individual hardware or software orders. Documents program purposes, methods, assumptions, and conclusions. Leads or participates in on-site surveys and/or reviews program information to determine status of the function and adequacy and quality of services. Documents findings and ensures recommendations are relevant to actual operating environments. Directs preparation or prepares a variety of program reports. (30%)
3. Maintains liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements. Develops strategies to incorporate into the organization's inventory such technologies and advancements found to be compatible with user requirements, taking into consideration any affect these technologies and techniques will have on existing architecture and infrastructure. As a HR SPEC (MIL), GS-0201-9, you will perform the following duties:

(1) Serves as an advisor to commanders on assigned unit human resources (HR) program. Interprets policy and provides procedural guidance to commanders, supervisors, staff members and individual military members. Provides training to supervisors and guidance and assistance to military members on program for which assigned. Conducts and/or participates in Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP), and unit mobilizations and de-mobilizations. Reviews, evaluates, and interprets regulatory guidance, policies, and procedures applicable to military personnel programs and provides guidance to all users. Publishes guidance to enhance and simplify completion and submission of personnel actions. Conducts staff visits and trains personnel within the unit in all programs for which responsible. Conducts periodic briefings for staff, commanders, and administrative personnel to promote full understanding of all aspects of the assigned program. Provides commanders, supervisors, and MILPO staff with a variety of statistical data or reports pertaining to military HR issues to assist in HR management decisions. Responds to correspondence (general, other agency, congressional, etc.) regarding military personnel issues. Researches, prepares response, and maintains action file. As required, forwards response for review and/or response for the MILPO Director and/or State Adjutant General. Estimates and projects future travel and funding requirements and submits request to MILPO Director. Oversees one of the following programs identified in duties 2 through 4

(2) Responsible for and oversees the direction of the EPM or OPM program and functions as the technical expert. Determines the methods and procedures for conducting military career guidance and counseling to ensure officer or enlisted personnel have an optimal and established career pattern. Provides direction, information, and/or counseling to MILPO staff, commanders of Major Army Command (MACOMM) through unit commanders, supervisors, as well as individual military members as required. Provides information and ensures regulatory compliance regarding area of responsibility which may include, but is not limited to: accessions, appointments, assignments, reassignments, transfers, promotions, discharges, separations, retirements, Officer Evaluation Reports (OER) Non-Commissioned Officer Evaluation Reports (NCOER), awarding of Military Occupational Skill (MOS) identifiers (primary or secondary), Stop Loss programs, and National Guard Bureau (NGB) waivers. Convenes or participates in various boards which may include: promotion, awards, selective retention, MOS Medical Review Board (MMRB), Incapacitation Review Boards, etc. Initiates action for the issuance of all military orders relating to military personnel actions and distributes accordingly. Reviews Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA), Table of Organization and Equipment (TOE), Modified TOE (MTOE), and/or Unit Manning Report (UMR) for the requirements, authorizations and movements of military personnel. Responsible for the review and verification of promotion actions (officer - 01 through 03, enlisted - E5 though E9) and/or the review and forwarding of packets for promotion board actions.

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-10, you will perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment.

(1) Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. This may include self-propelled artillery, tracked cargo and personnel carriers, road graders, mobile cranes, front loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, power shovels, compressors, generators, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, sedans, buses, all terrain vehicles, trucks, semi trailers, forklifts, tractors, and accessory equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Makes repairs to assemblies and components such as voltage regulators, generators/alternators, brake cylinders, etc. Performs work in accordance with modification work orders, technical manuals, lubrication orders, maintenance bulletins, regulations or management policies. May repair a variety of more complex major systems to include engines, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety of intricate fuel injection systems.

(2) Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. Utilizes embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Determines what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary.

(3) Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Makes the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures. Reassembles engines and other systems, and adjusts, tests, and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment as necessary. Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical and suspension systems. May install pistons, sleeves, rings, bearings, rods, crankshafts, timing gears, and rocker arms. May be required to perform fuel injection equipment repair, overhaul, rebuild, and calibration duties utilizing a variety of complex test and calibration equipment.

(4) Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work. May provide Field and limited Sustainment maintenance at unit locations as part of a "contact team." Recovers and evacuates inoperable vehicles from the unit location of breakdown. May assist higher graded mechanics in repairing a variety of interconnected systems such as electrical, air and hydraulic systems, complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems that use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems, complex fuel injection systems and other similar complex systems.

(5) Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs operational inspections and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc., and performs other preventive maintenance operations as required. Inspects supported equipment prior to use during Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training (AT), to ensure that it is functioning properly. May inspect in-process repair work of lower graded repairer to ensure equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). Instructs operator/crew in the maintenance of equipment and provides technical advice and assistance to supported units when requested.
