Associate Director, Safety & Environment
Position Overview - Basic Functions and Responsibility
Under the direction of the EHS Director, the Industrial Hygiene (IH) and Biosafety Associate Director will be responsible for leading a team of environmental, health, and safety professionals, providing technical and regulatory support, and implementing all necessary measures and initiatives required by federal, state and local regulations and company standards pertaining to environmental, health and safety protection at Rahway and Kenilworth sites. Provides direction and is specifically responsible for planning, developing, and reviewing industrial hygiene and biosafety programs for research (labs and pilot plants), clinical manufacturing, and facility support.
Primary Activities
Provide direction and leadership to direct reports in a matrixed organization (technical and customer support roles). Manage the overall IH and Biosafety programs for laboratories, pilot plants, clinical manufacturing, and facility-related support. Mentors IH and Biosafety professionals to build leadership and technical skills to improve individual performances. Coach operations leaders to enable them to successfully discharge their leadership responsibilities for health, safety and the environment.
Partner with Rahway and Kenilworth departments and contacts to integrate management systems focused on industrial hygiene and biosafety into every phase of their operations, as measured by performance metrics. Manage EHS professionals providing customer support to drug product development and analytical laboratories and clinical manufacturing facilities. Consult with and advise department personnel to provide sound and timely technical and/or administrative assistance in support of projects, procedures, and long-range plans that assure conformance with requirements.
Develop productive working relationships with federal, state, and local authorities, technical and industrial groups, consultants, and Corporate Industrial Hygiene and Biosafety Centers of Excellence to keep abreast of pending requirements and interpretations of existing rules. Coordinate and guide the efforts of industrial hygiene and biosafety professionals to ensure regulatory and company standards are effectively implemented across the Site.
Lead site and/or local area audits for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DEP, etc.) and company standards and guides. Translate standards and guides into appropriate site procedures. Track and report industrial hygiene, biosafety, and safety metrics.
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
B.S. in Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety or Industrial Hygiene;
M.S. is desirable.
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum 10 years experience in industrial hygiene, biosafety or related safety experience.
Evidence of leadership effective communication and organizational skills required.
Experience managing people, projects and/or teams is desirable.
Demonstrated performance in a highly regulated industry with strict standards adherence and compliance initiatives.
Good root cause investigation experience desired.
Strong systems and IT knowledge a plus.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
CIH, CSP, PE or other related professional certification
Pharma industry experience

Qualifications:
Required:
BA/BS in Business, Marketing, General Management, Biotechnology, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in one or more of the following functions within the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or life sciences consulting industries: marketing, sales, strategy & planning, commercial operations, or related function.
Proactive self-starter with strong leadership skills, executive presence, and cross-functional influencing skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in project management and execution of plans across a broad group of stakeholders/functions (Marketing, HQ, Field, COEs, etc.).
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Documented success in developing strategies and executing tactical plans with cross-functional teams in matrixed organizations.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives at once.
Travel as needed for meetings/conferences.
Ability to be on-site/in-person 3 days per week.

As a part of our Global Anti Bribery & Corruption (ABAC) Program (“the Team”), Associate Director, Compliance Data Risk Analytics & Monitoring will have responsibility for the management of the Company’s global compliance risk data monitoring program for certain ex-US regions.

The Large Molecule Analytical Validation (LMAV) team within Analytical Research & Development (AR&D) - is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Director to join their Biologics Critical Reagent Team. The individual will be a key contributor to the late-stage strategy of our company's Large Molecule pipeline. LMAV is primarily responsible for the strategic oversight for implementation of Biological Critical Reagents (BCRs) and Reference Standards (RS) for all large molecule pipeline programs. The Global Clinical Supply (GCS) organization is accountable for managing the 'end-to-end' integrated clinical supply chain across the full Research & Development Division portfolio of clinical trials. GCS supports more than 300 Phase I-IV clinical trials run in-house, 400+ outsourced or run by partners, and 300+ our Company ISS clinical trials. GCS is accountable for the planning, sourcing, labelling, packaging and delivery of clinical supplies to clinical sites across more than 60+ countries, in accordance with US and Global regulations, company policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.
The GCS Clinical Planning (Planning) organization is the key interface between clinical development teams and the operational/executional arms within the business. Clinical Supplies Project Managers (CSPMs) are responsible for the translation of global clinical study demand into supply plans and are accountable for all delivery of clinical finished goods materials to initiate trials on time and maintain patient continuity of supply.
Reporting to the Section Head of one of the Therapeutic Areas, the incumbent will have responsibility to manage a team of Clinical Supply Planning Managers (CSPM) responsible for managing supporting clinical supply programs, protocols and/or inventory. Responsibilities may also include assignments of varying phase, complexity, priority & involvement with external collaboration partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manages, directs, and influences clinical supply planning strategy, design and execution for multiple highly complex programs ensuring scientific consistency and quality development across multiple key clinical programs within a Portfolio. Accountable to Sr. Management for communication of progress, status updates, mitigation plans and escalation of issues for clinical supply deliverables across the portfolio for Phase I thru Phase IV including IIS and collaborative studies. Facilitates strategic and operational input, maintenance and continued evaluation of clinical supply chain plans across programs. Partners with key stakeholders to align with the vision and strategy and to ensure clinical supply timelines and deliverables are met across programs (including joint ventures, collaborations, due diligence, etc.).
Partners with key stakeholders on leadership teams to build alliances, drive the direction of the business, leverage best practices, and develop leading indicator values for risk, change control, and business continuity. Manages the multi-million dollar clinical supply drug product budget across the assigned Portfolio. Responsible for resource management and deployment for the Portfolio, including hiring and staffing. The Associate Director, Clinical Supply Operations (CSO) within Global Clinical Supply (GCS) is responsible for supporting launch and subsequently overseeing the clinical supply packaging and distribution operations at our Company at Rahway Cold Chain Center. Education Minimum Requirement:

Required Qualifications
6+ years’ experience in corporate communications, employee engagement and/or HR communications; demonstrated experience in people and leadership development.

Role Summary:
The Executive Director, Scientific Affairs (EDSA) maximizes meaningful bi-directional scientific exchange with the worldwide clinical and academic community to positively impact Research and Development (R&D) strategy for new medicines and to improve outcomes for patients.
