Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled clinical professional that provides indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. The Certified Physicist is responsible for the design optimization, technical evaluation, and precise and accurate delivery of radiation treatment plans under the guidance of the Administrative Director/Manager. The Certified Physicist collaborates with the Radiation Oncology Director and the Radiation Safety Officer to assure the maintenance of a quality management program and safety for all radiation oncology activities.The Department of Radiation Oncology at Intermountain Health has an opening for a full-time board-eligible or board-certified Medical Physicist. You will be joining a group of 4 other certified medical physicists providing clinical services to 6 clinics (2 of these are LDR alone) located in the Salt Lake Valley in partnership with 6 Radiation Oncologists, 6 Dosimetrists and dedicated IT support.
- Our clinical program is equipped with the latest radiotherapy technology utilizing a Varian/Aria/Eclipse (v.16.1 with GPU FAS servers) environment and includes 5 TrueBeam linear accelerators (one with SRS HyperArc capability), IDENTIFY SGRT, a Leksell Elekta Gamma Knife Icon (to be upgraded to Esprit this year), 2 GE Discovery RT CTs with Varian RGSC & smart deviceless 4D, a Varian GammaMedPlus HDR afterloader (to be replaced in 2025), and a full suite of Radformation products (ClearCheck, ClearCalc, RadMonteCarlo, AutoContour, EZFluence and RadMachine). You will contribute to active programs in conformal radiotherapy, IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, TBI, and SRS/SFRT/SBRT/IORT/4D/Gated/DIBH. Both HDR (gyn, prostate, skin, breast,…) and LDR (eye plaques, PSI, IVB, Y-90 microspheres, bile duct…) brachytherapy are a critical component in caring for our patients. We also have a MOSFET in-vivo program and an in-house printer for 3D bolus. Physics equipment & software include: DQA3, an IBA Water Tank, SNC 1D water tank, SRS MapCheck, SNC IC Profiler/Profiler 2, Portal Dosimetry, SNC Edge detector, a range of Ionization Chambers, survey meters, electrometers, phantoms and a broad variety of other physics instrumentation. Summary
Responsible for the coordination and support of medical education - including medical student and resident physician placement, orientation, on-boarding, and other compliance paperwork. Supports and manages aspects of continuing medical education including but not limited to accreditation requirements. Oversees aspects of medical education projects, including establishing plans, timelines, negotiation and delegation of tasks to project members, data management, monitoring of progress toward established deadlines and summarization of project reports and evaluations.Job Description
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with team members, academic partners, students, resident physicians, fellows, internal and external stakeholders, and other system departments. Prepares progress reports for leadership regarding status of accreditation status, projects and final project summaries. Knowledgeable of internal organizational practices and procedures as well as applicable external educational accreditation requirements. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Coordinates communication and related committee meetings with project members and key stakeholders.
Possess a working knowledge accreditation standards for programs specific to individual's area of responsibility. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for a comprehensive learning program. Provide guidance and direction to administrators, other educators, and/or health team members to successfully meet regulations.
Ability to develop strong working relationships, manage projects, and effectively communicate to achieve organizational goals.
