Job Description:
The Mind & Morality Lab, directed by Dr. Julia Marshall, investigates children’s social cognition. The lab is especially interested in understanding how children learn to cooperate with one another. We work with children from around age 5 up until 12 in laboratory, public, and school settings in addition to working with adults through online data collection platforms.
The Research Assistant’s responsibilities will be multi-fold. First, the Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible for coordinating and conducting research with children. This will involve managing a database of families and recruiting families to participate in laboratory studies. Second, the position will also involve reaching out to schools, coordinating school visits, and maintaining relationships with these schools. Third, the RA will help with lab-related tasks, such as administrative duties, performing statistical analyses, developing lab presentations, and recruiting and managing undergraduate research assistants.
This position will allow for independent research on the lab’s research topics under the supervision of Dr. Marshall.
This is a 100% grant funded and fixed-term position for one year with the possibility of renewal depending on the funding source.

Job Description:
The Research Assistant will work in the Center for Translational Neuroscience (CTN) in the Carney Institute for Brain Science, directed by Eric Morrow MD/PhD and Judy Liu MD/PhD, under the direct supervision of Dr. Morrow. The position involves research with patients, including adults and children, and families with neurogenetic disorders involving autism, epilepsy and related neurologic disorders. The CTN studies molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurological and neuropsychiatric disease, including autism, intellectual disability, epilepsy and neurodegenerative disease. The goals of the CTN are to build knowledge of the pathophysiology of disease and also to develop new diagnostic tools and treatments for these brain conditions. This position involves patient-oriented research which is conducted in collaboration with colleagues in affiliated hospital settings, yet the work is well-integrated into a setting also involving laboratory-based genetic and neuroscience research. The position is responsible for day to day tasks associated with multiple studies of rare genetic disorders conducted by the CTN at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and affiliated hospitals E.P. Bradley Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital. Duties include interviewing participants and families to gather study data and obtain informed consent; maintenance of study records and tracking of study participants; data entry, reporting, and assistance with database management; and assistance with recruitment efforts. There is an opportunity to assist with data analysis and preparation of manuscripts.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Director of the Office of Research Integrity (ORI), the Associate Director provides administrative leadership of the University’s Animal Care and Use Program through support of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and oversight of the Animal Research Compliance (ARC) team. The Associate Director also has responsibility for the University’s Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight (ESCRO) program and Committee. This role will adeptly and independently interpret and apply federal regulations governing animal research and embryonic stem cell research, stay apprised of evolving regulations, lead investigations as needed, and work with key stakeholders to amend institutional policies and practices. The Associate Director supports the IACUC meetings, is responsible for preparing meeting agendas and materials, reviewing meeting minutes, and for training and advising IACUC members on applicable regulations, policies, and review criteria. They are also responsible for integrating the ARC program with Brown University’s Center for Animal Resources and Education (CARE) and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) to facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements. The Associate Director supports the ARC team in day-to-day collaboration with faculty and cross-institutional partners (i.e., CARE, EHS, etc.) that share responsibility for the success of these critical compliance programs. Job Description:
The Fairbrother Laboratory is seeking a Research Assistant with experience in molecular and cell biology techniques. This candidate will assist with maintaining cell lines and reagents, perform transfections, PCR, western blotting, and protein and DNA extractions. In addition, the Research Assistant will be responsible for preparing equipment and supplies so that experiments in the laboratory can be carried out successfully. Candidate is expected to maintain order in the lab and assist with experiments in collaboration with computational biologists and other lab members.
The Fairbrother Laboratory uses a combination of computational biology and high throughput genomics techniques to identify functional elements in the genome. We seek to understand recognition events important in gene expression (i.e transcription and RNA splicing). Some specific projects include 1) understanding how particular arrangements of sequence elements are read by the splicing machinery, 2) identifying mutations/polymorphisms that disrupt splicing in the human population.

Summary:
The Research Assistant position will focus on assisting the laboratory with making progress toward its experimental goals. The Research Assistant will conduct research, record, analyze, interpret data, and coordinate manuscript preparation. This position is expected to work closely with the PI, graduate students, and postdocs to assist in their projects as needed. About the Opportunity

The Senior Research Associate takes the lead in developing and leading key research analysis projects for the Research Partnership for Professional Learning. The Research Partnership for Professional Learning (RPPL) is a partnership that brings together professional learning (PL) organizations and researchers from the Annenberg Institute who study teacher learning. RPPL’s central goal is to rethink how we learn about teacher PL, shifting from studies that explore whether a specific program works to a broader learning agenda designed to identify which PL design features improve teachers’ instructional practice and, as a result, students’ classroom experiences, well-being, and academic growth. Responsibilities:
The Annenberg Institute is seeking a Research Project Manager to work with the faculty Principal Investigators (PIs) of the Annenberg Institute, professors of Education, partner organizations, and members of the Annenberg Institute RPPL project team to support and collaborate on RPPL research projects. The Research Project Manager will support these research projects by engaging in data collection and analysis efforts, managing research studies, and writing academic papers and policy reports. Major responsibilities include helping design and implement original research with one or more partners; conducting data analysis; and supporting faculty and affiliates in writing, proofreading and editing academic papers and presentations, policy reports, and grants. This position requires a strong independent work ethic, interest in education, and quantitative research skills. Candidates must possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community as part of an organization that centers equity in its work.
This is a grant-funded, fixed term position with the possibility of renewal annually. This position is contingent on funding.
Qualifications:

5-years’ experience in education, economics or social sciences field

About the Opportunity:
The Office of Research Strategy and Development provides research leadership and guidance by building research capacity and enabling federal funding for research at Brown as articulated in the Operational Plan for Growing the Research Enterprise at Brown, and the work outlined by the major research units to pursue the plan. The group accomplishes this by working with the Vice President for Research and other Brown leaders to develop and support the university’s research priorities; strengthening internal and external research networks, processes, skills and knowledge to continuously grow capacity for research excellence at Brown; and by increasing external research funding to enable world class research at Brown.
The Assistant Director of Research Development serves in a strategic role within the Office of Research Strategy and Development and advances transdisciplinary collaboration and innovation by strategically coordinating the development of complex research teams and their funding proposals. The incumbent will support current and develop emerging research strengths and capabilities across campus; lead the development of opportunities for strengthening faculty research and teaming capabilities including grant writing workshops and networking events, ideation meetings and brainstorming sessions; provide research development support for large scale multi-institutional proposals; will identify external funding opportunities and proactively build relationships among collaborating entities both internally and external to Brown. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Research Development is responsible for developing and maintaining ongoing relationships with strategic partners, locally and globally. Finally, working with senior leaders from across campus, this position will be the strategic point person for institutional level proposals.
Responsibilities:
Enable funding for priority research by leading investigators in the preparation of large scale (>$5M) proposals for federal funding
In collaboration with the Research Strategy and Development team, while ensuring projects are in line with areas designated for growth through the strategic efforts of the Provost and VPR, identify resources needed for successful large scale proposal development and provide support as needed. Lead team building, project development, and project management roles to advance research aims and ensure success of research teams. Specialize in building complex proposals involving multiple researchers, often with collaborations and budgets spanning multiple departments, campuses, or institutions. Determine sponsor requirements and provide strategic advice for meeting sponsor requirements. Coordinate with department grant managers. Coach faculty throughout the proposal development process. Advise on specialized services (e.g. broader impacts, diversity plans, cost sharing, management plans) and identify appropriate sources of services. Draft letters of support or institutional commitment from university leaders and facilitate the letter approval process. Where internal or external professional services are needed (e.g. evaluator) identify provider and coordinate services. Provide template language on Brown services and facilities. Review drafts of proposals for responsiveness to sponsor requirements and goals.
Provide research leadership by supporting strategic projects for the Office of Research Strategy and Development
Design, develop and direct events at Brown to connect potential partners to research at Brown; strategically preparing teams in advance of and during proposal preparation. This includes outreach to federal agencies and national laboratories. While representing Brown, engage with federal agencies at workshops, open houses, and /or proposers’ days. Design and establish a database of strategic partnerships ranging from local to global partners, including local industries, national labs, non-profits, and federal agencies. Ensure funding and/or collaboration opportunities are brought to the attention of relevant faculty and department leadership.
Provide strategic intelligence on current best practices within research development, including team science, process optimization and other kinds of research development support.
Lead the submission of proposals for broad, university-wide proposals.
Oversee the proposal development process of institutional level proposals including proposal narrative development, editing, proofreading, integrating content from multiple authors, coordinating meetings with project team members, and evaluating complex funding solicitations to ensure compliance. Coordinate and collaborate with grants and finance administrators within the department submitting the proposal and within relevant OVPR offices, particularly pre-award in the Office of Sponsored Projects.

Position Purpose:
The research assistant (RA) will assist in conducting a project that involves studying how green space is associated with sleep and mental health in children. The study involves working with children in order to assess their exposure to green spaces, sleep behavior and mental health through the wearing of devices and administration of surveys. Work activities will involve traveling within Rhode Island to perform data collection visits with participants and their guardians either at their residence or neutral off-site locations, conducting in-person or zoom-based research qualitative interviews, programming and administering surveys, managing participant compensation, and aiding recruitment efforts through flyer distribution and collection, and social media management.
