JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a non-tenure-line Assistant Research Professor for the laboratory of Huanyu "Larry" Cheng. The Cheng Lab focuses on design strategies, novel fabrication processes, and biomedical applications of highly sensitive and selective on-skin sensors, stretchable sustained power supplies, and wireless transmission modules. This position involves the design, fabrication, and application of wearable electronics and stretchable standalone device platforms for biomedicine.
Responsibilities include:
Supervise graduate students.
Co-author journal articles.
Prepare grant proposals.
Assist with maintenance and inventory of lab supplies, as well as assist with reconciling expenses.
Produce and maintain lab protocols and reports, including experiment results and health and safety protocols.
Prepare and present research and technical results based on lab efforts.
Collaborate with other members of the lab, as well as with various agencies and departments at Penn State, to support ongoing research. This includes identifying and resolving research and development issues, designing and maintaining research equipment, ensuring all health and safety protocols are being followed in accordance with the latest guidelines, and discussing goals, action items, and outcomes for the lab.
Qualifications:
The Assistant Research Professor should possess a Ph.D. in Engineering Science and Mechanics or a closely related field by the appointment start date. Alternatively, the Assistant Research Professor without a terminal degree should possess at least a master's degree, must have demonstrated ability as a researcher, and must have shown evidence of professional growth and scholarship in their discipline.
The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the engineering of biomedical applications of highly sensitive and selective on-skin sensors, stretchable sustained power supplies, and wireless transmission modules. At least two years of experience in engineering/design of biomedical devices is preferred. Experience with grant writing and compliance is a plus.

This is a term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are hiring a postdoctoral scholar in the Lieurance Invasion Science Lab at Penn State University to work on projects related to improving our understanding of the invasion risk of nonnative species to enhance the way we inform invasive species prevention and management. My research program utilizes techniques to measure plant chemistry, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, and other traits to advance our understanding of why some nonnative species become invasive and how biological invasions are affected by climate change. This is a term appointment in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management funded for one year from date of hire, with excellent possibility of funding for a second year.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise and experience in species invasions, statistical modeling, GIS, invasion risk assessment, and/or field ecology. Most importantly, the ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, possess the ability to thrive both independently and within a team, and show a keen motivation to acquire new knowledge.
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in Biology, Ecology, Biological Invasions, or other related fields and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire.

Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET) is accepting applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professors in Computer Science to start in August 2024. The School offers a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Computer Science, in addition to several other undergraduate and graduate degrees in Engineering, Science, and Engineering Technology. SSET launched its first interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in engineering in the fall of 2022.
Job Responsibilities:
Faculty members of SSET are expected to pursue and sustain scholarly research and publication; recruit and advise students; supervise graduate students and contribute to the department, college, university, and profession through academic and professional service.

The College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a dynamic individual to lead the Department Ecosystem Science and Management (ESM). The Department’s land-grant mission is to ensure a vibrant future for humanity by preserving ecosystems, promoting inclusivity, fostering scientific breakthroughs, educating students for impactful careers, inspiring future leaders, and collaborating on innovative solutions to major environmental challenges. Our mission is achieved through nationally and internationally recognized research, teaching, and outreach activities in key ecosystem science disciplines involving forest health, restoring ecosystem function and service, scaling up ecosystem management, and watershed resilience, with an emphasis on applications in forestry, wildlife, fisheries, water, soils, and agriculture.
