Main Responsibilities  

• You own the overall health of our applications, and maintain our best-in-class product, a Java based micro-services architecture hosted on AWS.  
• You own the observability of our application stack, making sure that we have the right level of observability, including SLOs.
• You are accountable for identifying, planning for and remediating architectural and scalability challenges, and other elements of technical debt.
• You will work closely with key stakeholders and the CTO to ensure that key Engineering initiatives are delivered to expectation
• You will mentor and coach several engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ownership of production-ready code.
• You will hire and retain the best talent possible within the Engineering team
• You will manage our portfolio of development related tools and processes, including evaluating and recommending new tools and processes

Our Technical Environment  

As the Engineering Manager you aren’t expected to be hands-on, but you are expected to have a solid technical background, and be able to understand, direct and lead the Engineering team when it comes to our technical stack.

Here’s a high-level view of how we work:

• Our next generation payments platform has been developed using Java – specifically leveraging the Spring Boot framework
• Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS; using a mixture of containerization (Fargate) and vanilla EC2 – we're also open to exploring Kubernetes
• Our systems are secure and highly available – we have implemented passive and active monitoring and incident escalation using a combination of Datadog, CloudWatch Logs and Metrics, Postman, and Pagerduty
• We utilise GraphQL (leveraging Apollo and Hasura) to open up our rich data model to internal and external stakeholders

• We aggregate and analyze logs from all of our systems via the ELK stack

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or relevant Information technology industry experience. 
• Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals, specifically data structures and algorithms. 
• 10+ years industry experience with an in-depth understanding of distributed systems, 3+ years experience as an Engineering Manager or in Technical Management roles.
• Experience working in complex system architectures, operations and support structures

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Factory Capex planning base on the loading forecast, Capex budget control and monitoring on capital utilization and efficiency.
• Productivity improvement project: Lead in cost saving projects such as Productivity improvement, cycle time improvement, MMR improvement, etc. to meet company goals.
• Capacity planning and analysis to meet the volume demand and maximize the plant utilization.
• Maintain IE database and lead on the IE related system project.
• Time study and time standards: Perform time study data collection and analysis, continuous improvement based on Lean concept.
• Define production layout to ensure high efficiency and ergonomic for Lean operation.
• Coordinate in tool relocation & re-layout activities.
• Resources planning for DL & IDL based on production volume targets.
• Carried out material flow & process flow analysis. Study and explore opportunity to improve current process flow, material flow, line balancing, etc.….
• Validate automation performance and capability.
• Support IE in validating offline process activity such as conversion time, kitting time, tooling preparation time, etc. and opportunity to improve the offline activities cycle time.
• Collaborate with Production, QA, Process, and Automation team to achieve Operations KPI’s

We are looking for a technical leader to spearhead the development and sustaining of our USB product, as well as the lifecycle management of our in-house testing system, SHRACK. This role demands a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can effectively guide a technical team. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving SHRACK system errors and test issues, leveraging your deep expertise in semiconductor manufacturing execution systems to drive operational excellence and innovation.

• Optimize Test Strategies: develop and execute comprehensive test plans, balancing test time, yield, and quality to achieve aggressive goals in high-volume manufacturing environments. Identify the most cost-effective testing methods through troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement.
• Lead and Collaborate on Engineering Solutions: Analyze & resolve in-house SHRACK system errors, including client communication challenges, database server issues, recipe management system errors, MKP server connection problems, and Advanced Storage Device Protocol errors
• System Upgrades: Responsible for SHRACK tester software upgrades and RMS integration, collaborating with software teams to analyze logs, manage bin-code interpretations, and maintain RMS functionality.
• Champion Innovation and Cost Efficiency: Partner with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge testing technologies and elevate existing practices. Conduct research and champion the adoption of cost-saving solutions like Test Time Reduction (TTR) and new test platform enablement, driving CAPEX reduction through innovative test strategies.
• Technical Expertise and Support: Provide technical leadership and expert support in electrical failure analysis for internal and external stakeholders. Address issues related to RMAs, production, reliability, and DPPM (Defects Per Million Parts) improvement.
• Technical Communication and Documentation: Develop and deliver clear, concise technical reports and documentation, including electrical failure analysis work instructions, test equipment guidelines, test reports, and specifications.
• Knowledge Sharing and Mentorship: Conduct technical training sessions for engineers, fostering knowledge transfer and team development.

• Ensure timely translation of new HAMR product/process transfer from US R&D to Penang. Closely work with counterpart in R&D to develop new process / materials for performance improvements.
• Continuous Improvement of Sputter yields / productivity / high PPH for product maturity. Establish all necessary unique process controls for large volume builds based on the learning at NPI stage & HDD requirements.
• Conduct partition studies for troubleshooting root cause of high particle / low yield. Work together with the team members to take appropriate corrective actions for improvements including but not limited to implementing target sandblast criterias, process optimizations, working with target suppliers on quality improvements etc
• Work with Test yield team on Failure Analysis, understanding of various defect mechanisms of HAMR media and their relationship with sputter process / materials etc.
• Optimize sputter machine start-up & operation procedures to ensure process consistency & repeatability. Work with the team on machine start-up time reduction before media characterization activities in order to reduce downtime & improve productivity.
• Work together with Sputter Equipment team on hardware improvement projects for downtime reduction & yield improvements. Ex- sputter magpacks, different type of cathodes, disk holder designs etc.

• Design and review design work with regards to Railway route planning, detailed track alignment and p-way design
• Interface with other disciplines on alignment / trackwork’s requirement

• Assist in managing the Track Alignment Design / Trackwork Work Package in accordance with project Design criteria
• Supervise and check all technical documents related to Track works design activities
• Manage/follow up the Track design deliverables list (documents, reports, drawings, proposals etc.)
• Interface with general surveying works
• Ensure compliance with standards, technical specifications and procedures including Quality procedures.
• Report directly and regularly to the people manager on the progress and status of design activity and report any deviations from targets, schedules, quality, delays etc.
