Job Description:

• Prepare full set conceptual drawing in 2D and 3D presentation, layout plan and material sample board.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as a Packaging Design Engineer at Transpak Penang Sdn Bhd located in Sungai Jawi.

• Responsible for supporting packaging engineering initiatives and processes from concept to production stages.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth implementation of packaging designs, providing guidance and support during the production process.
• Work with and support TransPak team members from various countries in Asia, US, and other divisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product designers, engineers, and marketing to gather requirements and understand product specifications.
• Analyze drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item and types of materials required for packaging.
• Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials, and processes to enhance packaging designs and optimize production efficiency.
• Interact with customers to understand their requirements, provide technical support, and address concerns.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source and qualify materials, ensuring they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and select packaging suppliers; periodically conduct vendor reviews.
• Maintain accurate documentation of packaging designs, specifications, and testing results.
• Assist and participate in the audit process and meeting.
• Any others task assigned by the HOD from time to time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering, mechanical engineering, material science or other related field.
• Experience using ArtiosCAD software for structural packaging design.

• Experience working with manufacturers and suppliers.
• Knowledge and ability to use CNC machines such as Kongsberg.
• Understanding of the following fields: corrugated and paperboard packaging design, polyethylene and polyurethane foam design.

This internship provides you the opportunity to work with our Design & Merchandising team in creating women’s apparel for various seasons and occasion, gain exposure on the design process and participate in photoshoot activities and fitting sessions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the design process from conception through to final styling;
• Create and conceptualize fashion designs by hand or using computer-aided software;
• Preparation for fitting session, take notes of changes or modification during the session, and follow-up on communication with our suppliers;
• Preparation for photoshoot sessions and Visual Merchandising shooting;
• Check and ensure the finishing quality and fitting measurements for all samples are according to the specification before proceeding for mass production.
