We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant (Radiology Technician) to join our team to perform clinical assessments and clinical trial administration. Experience in clinical research is ideal but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Primary responsibility of the research assistant (radiology technician, primarily focusing on dual x-ray absorptiometry) would bepreparing and educating clinical trial participants about the imaging procedure
   reviewing participants' IDs and study requirements, and maintaining participants' records during and after procedures
   perform the imaging procedure
   calibrating the equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the study protocol

A Research Technician position is available immediately at Albany Medical College in the laboratory of Dr. Sophie Belin and Dr. Yannick Poitelon to study the development of myelin and how myelin is targeted in genetic, traumatic and acquired disorders.
Our studies utilize a variety of approaches, including molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, Western blot), ultramicrotomy and immunohistochemistry, glial and neuronal cell isolation, behavioral testing or motor and sensory functions, therapeutic application of ultrasound. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Belin and Dr. Poitelon, the research assistant will become competent in many of these techniques.

Responsibilities: In addition to becoming proficient in laboratory techniques, the research technician will also be expected to manage the research mouse colony, including animal husbandry and genotyping, perform general lab maintenance (e.g. purchasing and maintaining inventories of lab supplies), assist with training new lab members, and aiding in completing lab experiments.

The Littman laboratory at New York University is seeking a dynamic, driven, and curious Research Technician to join our group. Performs a variety of technical duties involved in conducting biochemical, molecular biology, small animal (mice) and immunology experiments to advance inflammation and arthritis-related research at Albany Medical College.

Job Description

• Performs routine procedures and experiments to address research questions under the guidance of senior research technician, research laboratory manager and/or the principal investigator.  Prepares culture media, chemical reagents, and solutions.
• Maintains detailed notes and documents experimental results. Performs basic data analysis, prepares data for presentation, and presents results to the laboratory team as needed.
• Confers with principal investigator to review work assignments and plans for research experiments.  Prepares and improves existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet research requirements/goals as required
• Reviews laboratory methods, manuals and/or scientific literature for information needed to perform and troubleshoot research techniques and/or experiment.
• Sets up, operates, cleans, and maintains as needed,  laboratory instruments, equipment, and tools and apparatus. Offers suggestions for purchase of necessary equipment when appropriate.
• Maintains sufficient inventory of appropriate material, supplies and equipment required for laboratory operations.
• Molecular biology and small animal research experience preferred.

The incumbent is responsible for implementation of management systems to ensure compliance with local, state, agency, and federal administrative requirements/regulations. The Education Technician provides administrative support to the Education & Training (E&T) Committee and other relevant ad hoc committees and groups, as needed. He/she provides administrative support to all education committees. Additionally, the Education Technician prepares committee minutes for accuracy for Supervisor's signature prior to submission.

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Work in partnership with simulation coordinator, clinical experts, and other clinical subject matter experts to develop interactive learning/simulation and provide technical support to clinical simulation training.
• Participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of education that integrates interactive learning/simulation training to service line and facility learning plans.
• Program, test, and troubleshoot simulation software scenarios, requiring knowledge and experience with complex computer software and audiovisual equipment.
• Serve as liaison between the center and the equipment manufacturers regarding the proper use of equipment and required maintenance.
• Provide technical assistance, consultation, and guidance related to AV equipment.
• Interact with patients, visitors, staff, students, and volunteers in a courteous, helpful, cooperative, and compassionate manner, contributing to the effective operation of both service and the Medical Center.
