The Challenge

General Responsibilities as Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine

The following is not an exhaustive nor exclusive list of the duties of a consultant. The appointee is expected to:
• Deliver day-to-day clinical care and leadership on the Geriatric Medicine wards or within the Acute Frailty bed base on AMU.
• Lead the daily ward rounds and board rounds and review new admissions to Geriatric Medicine
• Develop current Geriatric Medicine practice and patient pathways within West Middlesex Hospital and in conjunction with Service Lead /Clinical Director to further develop the service in line with best
• Lead and contribute to the development of protocols/clinical guidelines in Geriatric Medicine, audit and other key aspects of the clinical governance agenda.

Our work centres on outpatient activities for Nephrology as well as in-patient care for both renal and general medical patients. We also provide an innovative acute kidney injury (AKI) service, concentrating on those patients presenting with, or, developing stage 3 AKI whilst in hospital.

There are 4 general nephrology clinics per week and a monthly joint diabetes/renal new patient clinic. In addition, there are monthly joint multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) between the nephrologists and the Rheumatology, Diabetes and Urology teams, and quarterly joint meetings with the HIV.

i. Technical Competencies: -

• Valid registration with Singapore TCM Physician Practicing Certificate/License
