What is the job role?We have an exciting 2 year fixed term opportunity within our highways Network Management service for an Assistant Engineer/Senior Technician. In this role you will assist in the delivery of traffic and road safety initiatives including accident investigation, traffic regulation orders and other general measures to improve the safety and efficiency of the highway network.
Working on a number of high profile and innovative projects, you will have an opportunity to work closely with other members of the Traffic Management Team to deliver positive change for the city, building on the good work already undertaken in aiding road safety and enhancing traffic management in Coventry.
Day to day you will be responsible for undertaking site inspections across the city, investigating and responding to enquires from elected members, members of the public and other stakeholders and managing and co-ordinating programmes of work to help residents, businesses and visitors to Coventry travel safely and conveniently across and through the city.
Who are we looking for?We seek a proactive, enthusiastic individual interested in highways and transport. You should have a practical working knowledge of traffic management and its role in ensuring people and goods can move efficiently and safely around the city.
You will need to be enthusiastic, and diplomatic and have previous experience in working with the public.
To be successful in this role you will also have
- Experience in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- The ability to interpret and assess a range of data sources to aid and inform decision making
- Proven capability to lead and manage tasks and projects effectively
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
