The Microbiologist will be responsible for working with fermentation scientists in developing optimized culture conditions for newly developed or existing production strains from our customers and perform a variety of tasks related to fermentation technology. These can include strain propagation, bench top and pilot scale fermentations, operation of pilot plant and laboratory equipment/instrumentation, media preparation, sample collection and analysis, and related maintenance at the lab (Biopolis) and pilot plant (Tuas), as well as the analysis on the quality equipment such as HPLC, etc.

Your Responsibilities:

• Plan and design strain screening and collection strategy and protocol for fermentation process for our customers;
• Manage cell bank construction and maintenance based on our customers strains;
• Routine microbiological testing and cell counting of fermentation samples;
• Microbial contamination testing of process samples and environmental samples;
• Take responsibility for new technical development in identification of improvement of the fermentation process together with the process engineer;
• Provide scientific and technical support in ongoing or potential collaboration projects with our customers;
• Cross-functionally collaborate with other scientists, engineers and management professionals internal and external to ScaleUp Bio;
• Responsible for the analytical lab duties (HPLC, etc.).

Your Profile:

• Master degree with 3+ years experience Or Bachelor degree with 5+ years experience or equivalent in Microbiology or Chemistry or related field.
• Industrial experience is desired, e.g. culture strain storage management etc.
• Experience in microbial isolation, cultivation, characterization and identification, microbial physiology and/or ecology, 16S rRNA qPCR, Western blotting, and basic genetic engineering tools and analytical tools (HPLC, etc.).
• Familiarity with strain handling, microbial communities, high-throughput screenings, and fermentation.

ScaleUp Bio is seeking highly skilled Laboratory Analyst to join our team. The Technical Scientists will be responsible for working with fermentation scientists in developing optimized culture conditions for newly developed or existing production strains from our customers, the successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks related to fermentation technology. The Quality System Specialist/ Assistant Manager will be responsible for establishing and maintaining quality / food safety related systems. These can include document control, change control management , customer complaint, and various audits. The successful candidate will cover both of our facilities at Biopolis (Singapore) and Tuas (Singapore), and will be reporting to the QA/QC Manager.

• Serve as the Food Safety Team member and is actively involved in all HACCP Plans.
• Responsible for management of the Supplier Programs including complaints management and feedback.

• Manage the conduct of internal audit program and ensure compliance to requirements of GMP / HACCP pre-requisite programs, Quality systems, Halal assurance system.
• Assist QA Manager to prepare for external audits and ensure agreed audit findings are corrected and preventive measures are put in place.
• Manage the customer complaint handling system – evaluation, investigation and corrective/preventive action planning, implementation and monitoring.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the progress timeline.
• Ensure safe working practice in research labs, pilot plants, and manufacturing facilities to meet or exceed safety goals.
• Any other tasks related to quality system, as assigned by QA Manager.

Your Profile:

• Bachelor degree with 5+ years’ experience or equivalent in Food Science / Food Technology or related field.
• Industrial experience is desired
• Experience in setting up quality system and food safety system in food industry.
• Trained in HACCP/ FSSC 22000 internal audit.
• Lead auditor certification would be a plus.
• Familiarity with microbial communities and fermentation process would be a plus.
• Strong communication and organization skills, be able to multi-task and exhibit a strong sense of urgency in order to accomplish daily tasks.
• Be self-motivated with the ability to manage time and priorities; must be able to work independently in a team environment, maintain a positive attitude
• Strong writing skills and be fluent in English.

Your Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the manufacturing of Upstream (Fermentation) processes.
• Possess practical experience with Fermenters and associated equipment across a range of scales, from small to large.
• Skilfully troubleshoot fermentation process issues related to equipment and overall process to ensure seamless operations.
• Showcase proficiency in both Batch and Fed Batch phases within the fermentation process.
• Exhibit hands-on experience in both intra-cellular and extra-cellular Microbial fermentation processes.
• Take charge of operating, optimizing, and stabilizing the upstream manufacturing process.
• Showcase your expertise in Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) processes, including customer management.
• Demonstrate a successful history of scaling up fermentation processes from small to large scale.
• Utilize your experience to resolve contamination issues in the fermentation process.
• Take responsibility for training the manufacturing team and ensuring strict adherence to all procedures during the process.
• Exhibit hands-on experience in project-related activities, specifically equipment qualification and process validation for fermentation processes.
• Prepare comprehensive process-related documents in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in a relevant field.
• 3-5 years proven experience in upstream manufacturing with a focus on fermentation processes.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive problem-solving mindset.

Your Responsibilities

Part of the regional Supply Chain team in APAC to work on data analytics, process review and implementation, key performance measurement & management and project management including S&OP coordination & communications for Southeast Asia.

• Collate data and information as input to business case for substantiating project initiation and continuous improvement
• Analyze and identify process gaps and shortfalls by methodology such as Ishikawa diagram, Pareto, RCA, VBM etc.
• Bring visibility to Supply Chain performance and support measurement and management of key performance metrics by using Power BI and other appropriate tools to report forecast accuracy, on time delivery, inventory etc.
• Work with the Supply Chain leaders, functional and business counterparts to understand Supply Chain metrics and devise format to present Supply Chain performance accordingly
• Develop administrative approach in ensuring sufficient reporting and controlling for ongoing initiatives are in place
• Co-lead projects that aim at delivering recurring as well as one-time benefits through examples such as implementation of S&OP suite, network analysis, reduction of dysfunctional inventory and 3PL tender coordination
• Devise demand planning approach to collecting, analyzing and improving sales forecast which includes optimization of portfolio (e.g. sell-out, pruning) and adoption of reasonable production strategy (e.g. MTS, MTO vs ETO) depending on the stage of product life cycle to balance supply between service and inventory
• Lead the preparation of S&OP materials and co-facilitate discussion and align decision-making in business review meetings attended by senior business/ function leaders with present performance status and gaps from future demand and supply outlook
• Observe and comply with company procedures and policies
• Perform other duties as assigned, mostly coordination and communications in nature

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain or Business Management
• 5 years working experience in a Supply Chain, Business or IT Analyst role
• Knowledge and practical experience in Project Management
• Advanced Excel and Power Point skills
• Sound understanding and experience in forecast administration, demand analysis and exchange with supply planning
• Proficiency in report generation with the use of Excel or BI solutions
• Strong communications skills to understand user requirements and work with various stakeholders to acquire necessary data
