Responsibilities:
· Act as subject matter expert in the region; POC for Trade and Customs
· Ensure company’s compliant with current regulations
· Support the region/ subsidiaries on understanding, management and application of customs & trade related documentation
· Support the region / subsidiaries with classification, based on national regulations/interpretations in alignment with the Global Customs & Trade Compliance team
· Conduct training on customs & trade compliance laws and regulations, as well as applicable policies and procedures APAC - based company associates and new hires
· Support the due diligence, evaluation and implementation of new business initiatives
· Identify non-compliance or opportunities for improvement and implement corrective or improvement actions, respectively
· Resolve customs issues; provide support when they are questioned or audited by Customs authorities
· Manage and optimize duties and other costs within the compliance framework
· Support the roll-out of global programs and policies
· Engage with different Customs authorities as needed to manage audits or inquiries, and discuss optimal processes for company.
· Support Global Customs & Trade Compliance team in duty optimization, classification, customs valuation, or any other topics, focusing on the APAC region.
· Support and assist with the implementation with any global and/or local/regional project/process that comes up, by being a strong contributor and showing enthusiasm to work as a team player - from both the Customs & Trade team (globally) and from the subsidiaries within the Region
· Support the countries in the region in any customs audits & assessments – including, if necessary, accompanying and/or representing the company in front of customs authorities
Requirements:
· Minimum of 6-7 years of experience in Customs & Trade area
· Experience in tariff classification, customs valuation and country of origin Determination. Good knowledge of import/ customs regulations, Free Trade Agreements, Rules of Origin, Import Duties and taxes, International Regulations
· Excellent report writing and presentation skills (the ability to present trade compliance concepts in a technical environment and to persons at all levels, including top management)
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Critical thinking and excellent problem solving and analysis skills
· Ability to multi-task and prioritize, with excellent time management skills
· Ability to handle confidential information frequently and appropriately
· Capable of working independently in support of customs and trade compliance objectives and working collaboratively with different stakeholders across the business and the region, including management team
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills
· Professional English level (written and spoken) is required
· IT industry experience is a plus
