The Core Specialty Actuarial Pricing Team is looking for an Actuarial Associate or Senior Actuarial Associate. This dynamic role will primarily be responsible for supporting commercial and professional liability lines of business during an exciting time of growth. The role will primarily focus on monitoring the existing portfolio, evaluating prospective opportunities, performing studies to update pricing tool assumptions, and supporting business partners. Actuarial Associate or Senior Actuarial Associate title will depend on candidate’s qualifications such as years of experience and exam progress.

Key Accountabilities and Deliverables:

Our Actuaries are on the frontlines, quantifying risk, pricing insurance and reserving losses for AIG’s major regulated and rated insurance operating companies globally. Portfolio Analytics and Pricing Actuaries support AIG’s businesses and are responsible for technical pricing, product development analytics and performance measurement. They collaborate with Marketing, Operations and Financial Management.

What you need to know:

This will be a key resource in carrying out APAC DVRs while supporting Singapore local statutory reporting requirements, including but not restricted to annual stress tests, IFRS17 reporting, regulatory compliance returns, ALM monitoring and Solvency returns.

The candidate is expected to work with analysts and experienced actuaries as part the regional team to provide actuarial advice to the business functions including profit centres, underwriting, finance, and risk management. Key responsibilities include:

• Assist in local GAAP quarterly reserving and solvency estimates for local regulatory reporting for assigned APAC countries
• Assist in preparation of US GAAP quarterly management results
• Assist in preparation of annual Detailed Valuation Reviews, Insurance Liability Valuation Report and Financial Condition Report / Stress testing
• Assist in preparation of quarterly Board and Risk committee reporting
• Assist in reviewing capital targets and investment strategies including ALM
• Provide support to the budget loss ratio exercise and annual financial planning
• Assist in supporting strategic portfolio reviews and deep dive analyses of certain business segments
• Assist with implementation of IFRS 17 reporting requirements
• Assist in other ad-hoc analyses as required.

What we’re looking for:

• Candidate with Mathematics/Actuarial/Statistics/Economics or any related degree background, with some progress towards pursuing a professional actuarial qualification
• 1-2 years of working experience in the General insurance industry
• Fresh graduates will be considered
• Familiarity with traditional actuarial techniques and models
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneous
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as take responsibility for his individual contribution

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

The incumbent will be a key member of the Technical team, involved in Actuarial Pricing, Product Development and Portfolio Management.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of pricing models for all retail P&C lines.
• Utilize actuarial and machine learning methods to improve technical pricing models and collaborate closely with other functions to ensure fast implementation.
• Pricing for new or large opportunities, as well as proactive management of existing Scheme and Fleet pricing, involving close collaboration with underwriting and distribution teams.
• Develop and calculate regular KPIs for monthly portfolio monitoring reports and dashboards delivered to the executive committee.
• Conduct market competitor analysis and reports to identify pricing and product opportunities.
• Draft policy wordings for new and revamped products.
• Drive the product approval process and documentation for Allianz group as well as regulatory compliance.
• Drive improvements to existing processes to advance efficiency.

Capabilities and Qualifications:

• Degree in actuarial, statistics, mathematics, business or related field.
• Actuarial qualifications (FCAS, FIA, FIAA or equivalent), or partial qualification, would be an advantage.
• Familiar with Singapore P&C market.
• P&C Actuarial pricing skills, familiarity with Radar Base, Radar Live and Emblem is a plus.
• Team player with good interpersonal and influential skills to successfully persuade and motivate others to act.
• Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally.
• 3+ years of P&C pricing experience.

We are recruiting for a Senior Actuarial Consultant to join our team!  This position can work hybrid in our Farmington Hills, MI office, or sit remote from most locations in the U.S.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, perform the highest-level actuarial analysis to support rate indications, loss reserving and/or financial modeling including data collection and internal controls implementation.  As an expert in the field with a broad knowledge, initiate and lead actuarial analysis and recommendations to improve profitability, reserve accuracy or model results.  Recommend pricing, reserving or modeling outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collect data, perform analyses, and present results for pricing indications, loss reserve reviews and /or financial modeling.  Very familiar with performing actuarial analysis and recommendations to improve profitability, reserve accuracy, or modeled results including the development of appropriate methodologies and monitoring systems. Attend committee meetings regarding pricing indications or loss reserves. Communicate with other departments to discuss informational needs, methods of presenting data, etc. Communicate with industry groups or senior personnel to discuss various actuarial practices.

• Very familiar with company data systems and department processes to allow for directing conversion, enhancements, automation, and formal documentation of improvements.

• Initiate and participate in complex special projects related to statistical modeling analysis, interdepartmental and industry committees, development of new or revised systems and attendant reporting mechanisms, and problem solving or investigation related to various actuarial disciplines. Respond to requests for special assistance, financial information or actuarial support to other company departments or to senior management. Review department processes and results to provide quality control, identify problems and areas of inefficiency, and implement solutions.

• Collect and present statistical information on company experience and financial results including peer analysis.

• Train less experienced staff with routine assignments including data gathering and analysis, resolving problems, interpreting requests, internal controls implementation and communicating with internal and external customers.

• Participate in continuous learning activities.

• Aware of emerging issues affecting the business or area of focus.

• Communicate with other departments to discuss informational needs, methods of presenting data, etc. Communicate with industry groups or others to discuss various actuarial practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in actuarial science, statistics, computer science, economics

• Credentialed actuary with FCAS or equivalent experience.

• Minimum 10 years of professional actuarial experience, preferably in a property-casualty environment.

• Intermediate to advanced PC programming skills enabling the individual to extract and manipulate data (SAS, SQL, etc.).

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office proficiency required to analyze and present actuarial information (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Ability and willingness to continue participation in the actuarial exam program.

• Broader understanding of statistical models and GLMs preferred.

• Ability to lead discussions and effectively translate complex concepts to business leaders resulting in effective decisions that drive strategy.

• Ability to lead discussions, make presentations and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience.

• Possess leadership skills including the ability to prioritize, delegate, and train other actuarial staff.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to handle complex tasks having a more significant business impact. Draws conclusions, develops and presents actionable recommendations.
