About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking multiple Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Structures to join our Richmond based maintenance team in a permanent full time position.

Airbus in Australia Pacific is the leading contractor for the RAAF fleet of 12 C130J Hercules transport aircraft.

Our AME Structures team members are responsible to carry out inspection, repair, refurbishment, modification and recovery in support of Industry specific tasks, such as advanced structural repair and aircraft and/or component modifications.

You will work within your competency and authorisation to contribute to the achievement of aircraft maintenance targets, and may be assigned to a number of other maintenance projects undertaken by Airbus within the facility.

About you

As a key member of the Richmond Maintenance Team, you will work closely with a large and inclusive team of technical experts focused on success.

To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment. You will need to be someone who is able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment.

The knowledge, skills and experience best suited to this role would include:

Cert IV in Aeroskills (Structures) or equivalent issued by a Registered Training Organisation
Ability to obtain a Military Aircraft Maintenance License (MAML)
High-Level aviation airworthiness regulatory knowledge and it's applicability in the relevant environment
Understanding of relevant aircraft maintenance documentation and practices
Knowledge of and experience using Interactive Electronic Technical Publications
High-level communication skills, both verbal and written
High-level computer skills in Microsoft Office applications

Salary

You will be employed under the Airbus Australia Pacific (Richmond) Enterprise Agreement 2023 with salary ranging from $91,823 - $110,126 depending on level of experience.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Electric Drive Systems Engineer / E-Drive Engineer include, depending on project needs:

• Work from our Leyland facility in the UK

• Work at base site for 37hrs per week

• Following the Product Creation Process

• Work flexibly within the Global PACCAR Powertrain group to support the needs of global stakeholders

• Organise meetings to discuss relevant technical topics

What is the Role?

Our Distribution Trainee Engineer programme lasts for three years and combines academic study with work-based experience. You will have the opportunity to study towards a HNC in Electrical Engineering and a Project Management qualification.

The Distribution Trainee Engineer programme is designed to build the foundation blocks of your electrical engineering career within the Distribution business, focussing on being an operational engineer in the field. Providing you with great opportunities to be exposed to engineering excellence across our business whilst developing your academic, theoretical, and practical skills. You will work towards becoming a Low Voltage Switcher and a High Voltage Switcher, maintaining Network integrity and safety whilst ensuring safe and reliable supply of electricity to our customers. Your role will be integral to the daily operation, repair and design of the Network whilst supporting the drive towards a Distribution NetZero.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to be:

- Flexible in your approach to work to maximise your chances of success, and you should be happy working alone or as part of a team.

- Comfortable to spend some time living away from home whilst attending college or on placements across SSE.

- Have a driving license or currently learning to drive.

For entrance onto the educational aspect of our programme it's important that you have, or expect to achieve the below qualifications prior to starting the programme in September 2024:

- 3 Scottish Highers at grade BCC or above including Maths, OR 2 A levels at grade CC or above and including maths
- National 5 Physics or Engineering Science plus English at grade C or above, OR GCSE Physics and English at grade C or above, or equivalent

- We are happy to accept applications from candidates with equivalent level engineering.

We are unable to accept a HNC in electrical engineering for this programme as this will be the qualification that you will be studying on the programme. Our Trainee Engineer programme lasts for three years and combines academic study with work-based experience. Working within our Distribution business, you'll have the opportunity to study towards a HNC in Electrical Engineering as well as gaining an APM in Project Management qualification.

The Distribution Trainee Engineer programme is designed to build the foundation blocks of your electrical engineering career within the Distribution business, providing you with great opportunities to be exposed to engineering excellence across our business whilst developing your academic, theoretical, and practical skills. This will provide you with an excellent opportunity to become the Power Engineer of the future. You can work towards becoming a Low Voltage Switcher and a High Voltage Switcher, making the Network safe to work on and maintaining Network integrity and resilience whilst ensuring safe and reliable supply of electricity to our customers. This combined with you newly developed project management skills will enable you to become more contribute towards the daily operation, repair and design of the Network whilst supporting the drive towards a Distribution NetZero.

You are provided additional support, training and guidance whilst on your learning journey to ensure you can make a fantastic start to your engineering career within SSEN.
