As a hands-on software engineering manager in our backend engineering team, you will bring a track record of having built multiple high-performance, stable systems, and solving complex problems. You have been a pivotal engineering front-runner with a strong sense of intellectual curiosity. You are a significant influencer in your team’s strategy and contribute substantially to team planning. You exercise good judgment, drive for innovation and results, and are a collaborative leader and mentor. You are at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision and embody a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development.
In this role, you will be joining the Backend Platform team to help lead development of key commerce and payment system initiatives. You will be directly impacting the enrollment and purchasing processes for all prospects. You will be partnering with fellow engineering leaders on the design, scaling and implementation of core microservices that support marketing and finance operations within the organization. Ideal candidates have experience in digital transformation efforts centered around ecommerce.
Responsibilities:
- Perform design reviews for intricate systems within your team and across other engineering teams
- Practice taking a broad view of the platform, influencing software, operations, and planning decisions
- Regularly advise on matters of software performance, scalability, system architecture, and engineering best practices
- Work closely with product/program management, engineering leadership, quality assurance (QA), and design to help bring the best product experience to production; collaborate with partner teams to meet the engineering goals in a unified manner
- Implement new features and functionality in React, Node.js, and .NET as needed
- Manage auditing compliance requirements
- Write unit and automation tests and contribute to our CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous delivery) capabilities
- Lead Scrum ceremonies including planning, grooming, standups
- Share on-call/escalation responsibilities with your team
- Lead by example and promote professional growth in self and team
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of professional programming, software development, and/or software engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Full-stack experience and an ability to work in React, Node.js, and C#/.NET
- Proficient in delivering and interacting with REST API’s and web services across multiple systems
- 2+ years of leadership experience, ideally of agile software development teams
- Excellent coding, debugging, algorithm design and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
