We have an opportunity for an Estate Technician to join our well-established Estate Services team covering South Wiltshire and Dorset. You will be part of a small team, primarily lone working on the clearing and then cleaning of empty properties on our sheltered and general needs services as well as completing ad-hoc duties such as removal of fly-tipping and gutter cleaning.

The role of Estate Technician will include:

- Assisting with general cleaning and clearing of void properties

In the role of Surveying Technician, you will perform a supportive, hands-on role on civil infrastructure projects, supporting all aspects of survey requirements for successful delivery (ensuring a quality output is delivered to our client’s satisfaction, whilst realising anticipated returns for SGQ.

RESPONSIBLE TO Civil Operations Manager/Surveyor
RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR
Position Specific Duties
• Liaise and work closely with Surveyors, Contract Quality Representatives / Project Engineers & Project Manager in relation to survey requirements
• Assisting construction managers, Architects and Surveyors in planning and organisation
• Interpreting plans, regulations and codes of practice
• Preparing preliminary sketches, working drawings and speculations
• Preparing, editing and revising plans, maps, charts and drawings
• Coordinating works programs
• Inspecting work and materials for compliance with specifications, regulations and standards
• Calculating costs and estimating time scales
• Collecting data using surveying instruments and photogrammetric equipment
• Performing routine computations and plotting preliminary data
• Generate Appropriate conformance reports, Report to appropriate project personnel regarding possible QA issues, non-conformances and rectification processes
• Generate, upload and interpret data utilising Survey Equipment & Control Systems (Trimble / Leica Machines & Control Systems, 12D software proficiency)
• Generate accurate volume and area reports through survey field work

Business Development & Innovation
• Keep abreast of industry innovations for construction operations (Survey) and recommend implementation of such for the optimum achievement of SGQ’s objectives
• Implement the application of project surveying systems, technology and equipment to effectively support the delivery of civil infrastructure projects within SGQ
Communication
• Develop and maintain high-quality working relationships with project staff, including client’s on site staff;
• Networking with others to continuously strengthen relationships with customers, key stakeholders and suppliers necessary for the commercial success of the project.

• You have a vital role to play in making sure drivers do not drive while fatigued, breach the work and rest limits or exceed the speed limits. You are to comply with our national fatigue obligations at all times and may be held legally accountable for a breach of this law. About the role:
We are seeking a self-motivated and confident individual to support activities within our busy Construction Workshops.
As the successful candidate for this exiting role, you will find there is a variety of tasks to be undertaken each day. Preparation of workshop areas and resources is key to our students learning, and you will be able to work on your own initiative to ensure tools and materials are in the right place at the right time. Working alongside teaching colleagues you will be key to the smooth running of practical classes.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and repair all equipment in all workshops and training areas; prepare and set up equipment, tool and assessment areas for practical sessions and demonstrations, assist lecturing staff during practical sessions and demonstrations and maintain good Health & Safety during workshop sessions.
You will need to be able to demonstrate practical skills in a construction related trade, and have knowledge of the associated tools, equipment and materials used.
Experience of a similar role within further education would be advantageous, although full training will be given.
The post holder should have good interpersonal skills, administrative and communication skills, be organised and able to meet deadlines.
The successful candidate will need to hold qualifications in a construction related industry.
