Job Purpose

Ensure that Accounts Payable and GL accounting processes are in line with established accounting systems, policies andprocedures, conforms to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and in full compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).

Active involvement in the timely delivery of company financial reports, implementation of established internal costcontrol and helps ensure protection of the assets of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Consolidation of company accounts e g. checking and reconciliation of prior period figures to be carried forward
• Maintaining reports and details of general ledger accounts
• Maintaining and supervising Purchasing/Inventory Control System (AIS and Inventory Master).
• Troubleshooting and liaising with respective personnel for outstanding issues or problems
• Assisting in all general ledger tasks, including but not limited to intercompany transactions and accruals.
• Proper journal, account reconciliation, maintenance and consistent updating of all accounting schedules.
• Maintaining proper control on company assets
• Preparation of construction account, liaising with project personnel and contractor, updates on supplier WIP reports.
• Assist in budgetary and reporting process
• Timely and accurate posting of  invoices in the system
• Regular and consistent liaison and coordination with other departments on the thorough checking and verification of vendor invoices, particular to non-inventory items and contractual services
• Verify and reconcile vendor statements, trace missing invoices and payments and communicate in writing with vendors for any discrepancies.
• Assist in working with external financial auditors, tax agents, insurance representatives and consultants, bank officers and other local government agency representatives to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
• Work closely within accounting, and other departments, i.e. procurement, warehousing and other commercial department, to ensure  that an overall cohesive team co-operation is maintained
• Maintain well documented and easily auditable records for all accounts maintained, including but not limited to invoices, POs, GRNs, COFA and vendor statement of accounts (SOA)
• Respond to inquiries from vendors and employees, on the first instance and ensure that proper resolution is arrived, else elevating the concern to the HQ and Site Financial Controller

As a General Attorney (Tax) Senior Counsel, you will:

• Serve as team leader on large-scale CORP guidance and publication projects that may involve representatives from other Counsel Divisions, IRS offices, and Treasury Office of Tax Policy. Direct and coordinate work of other team members. Oversee administrative and logistical matters related to these projects.
• Serve in connection with the review of Private Letter Rulings, Revenue Rulings, Chief Counsel Advice Memoranda, Technical Advice Memoranda, regulations and other forms of published guidance, develop procedural guidelines to assist CORP attorneys.
• Research complex issues and trends affecting CORP legal services and determine likely legal ramifications on CORP and other Counsel programs. Ensure that the legal or administrative consequences of potential actions to handle these issues are fully considered and write decision papers to determine Counsel's position on these matters. Decision papers can serve as future guidelines in the handling of these issues.
• Serve as a primary reviewer on proposed legislation with potential impact on CORP programs, and prepare final comments/recommendations on behalf of the Office. Identify the need for, develop and draft new procedures and regulations to implement new or amended legislation to ensure that policies are consistent with the intent of the law and are administratively sound and economical in operation.
• As designated by management, act as a recognized legal resource specialist to other office staff for the purpose of providing substantive guidance and assistance to less senior attorneys to facilitate the development and completion of legal work assignments. When requested, assist in the identification of legal staff training needs, and in the development and delivery of such training.
• Serve as Senior Counsel with responsibility for personally performing technical review of some of the office's most complex, important, or novel case/project assignments, particularly those with broad, or potentially controversial ramifications. Provide expert advice and litigation support services on the most complicated corporate tax matters. As delegated by the manager, independently plan, develop and complete complex legal work products without review, and provide technical guidance and review of work products of other staff members. Apply a high level of sophisticated analysis and research to identify and assess approaches to make recommendations on behalf of the Office to program executives and managers. As Senior Technician Reviewer, the incumbent is responsible for some of the most complicated, difficult, and unusual assignments and projects in Passthroughs and Special Industries. In consultation with the Branch Chief, the Senior Technician Reviewer is responsible for the assignment of selected cases and projects to the attorneys within the Branch and for review of the work products. The primary work of the Branch involves developing and considering recommendations for enactment of Internal Revenue legislation and the promulgating published guidance (regulations, revenue rulings, and revenue procedures) preparing of private letter rulings, technical advice memoranda, and other written legal advice based on tax issues submitted by taxpayers and their representatives, state and federal agencies, and other Chief Counsel and IRS offices.
