Goal of this Position:
This role is to ensure the use of appropriate test methods of your Department and to ensure that customers get high-quality test results that lead to the achievement of our business objectives/plans and ensure our organization's policies and procedures are set up and maintained.
Responsibilities
Daily Operation Tasks:
1) Execute a post-test review of results
2) Engage customers with the aim to build & maintain good relationships with customers by understanding Customers' testing objectives and to give advice and technical explanations to customers pertaining to standard test methods, acceptance criteria, and result analysis
3) Maintain long-term quality control practices in the department
- Ensure the use of appropriate standard test methods for departmental tests;
- Ensure Technicians adhere to the written procedures while performing tests;
- Maintain preventive maintenance, periodic verification, standardization or calibration of departmental test equipment;
- Maintain and monitor long-term quality indicators such as control charts;
- Advise calibration points & degree of accuracy and precision required before calibration of departmental test equipment;
- Review of calibration certificates for errors/correction factors to be applied during operations, and measurement uncertainty to update the uncertainty budget table.
4) Under heavy load, assist with the execution of tests
Learning & Development:
1) Reach the expected competency level for departmental tests according to Company policy.
2) Set up a comprehensive training syllabus to properly deliver structured training on different standard test methods
3) Deliver practical training to Technicians by referring to written procedures
4) Draft PTS Test Procedures & periodic update of existing PT Test Procedures annually & debrief/communicate summary of changes to the respective team members.
Quality Assurance:
1) Comply with quality regulations set by the Company, including following PTS Test Procedures when carrying out tests.
2) Execute method development, method validation & verification.
3) Report to seniors on departmental non-conforming work.
Safety:
1) Comply with safety & health regulations set by the Company.
2) Oversee the stock-taking of safety equipment (PPE) in the department, including loan units for visitors (if applicable).
Other assignments that your seniors may request from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or relevant Engineering/ Science Field with min. 1 years of relevant experience
- Experience in performing tests for Spark OES, ICP-OES, Combustion and ONH is an added advantage
- Experience in ISO 9001 Manufacturing or QAQC role or equivalent, or ISO 17025 Accredited Laboratory Role is an added advantage
- Possess knowledge of common material specifications and metallic material properties.
- Understand why certain maintenance and calibrations are required
- Keen learner (show interest and take initiative to learn own Departments' tests)
- Passionate (with a Can-Do attitude)
- Attentive to details (spot anomaly in work/test)
- Ethically minded (show a strong sense of integrity in his work; report non-conforming events)
- Good communication skills (provide technical advice and explanation to customers on work/test performed)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm
