We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sales & Marketing Finance or Commercial Finance individual for our newly created Sales Governance & Finance department to oversee the finance business partnering, financial planning, analysis and controlling activities of our Sales and Marketing departments. Reporting to the Director, Market Analysis, the Senior Market Analyst will be responsible for supporting Singapore Trading desks by providing short- and long-term fundamental analysis to the Crude desk. The senior analyst will work effectively within the Singapore analysis group, but contribute regularly to the assignments led by trading strategists in other locations such as Houston and London. He or she is responsible to identify and propose trading strategies based on fundamental analysis. The senior analyst should proactively engage with traders and trading managers to understand current and potential business needs and tailor analysis accordingly.

Primary Function/Responsibilities:

• Analyze fundamental data; update monthly supply and demand crude balances for the Asia and Middle East crude markets and contribute to fundamental reports.
• Track refinery maintenance, expansions, crude trade flows, and fuel specification changes.
• Model crude demand based on refinery runs, product demand, stockpiling activities.
• Calculate arbitrage values for multiple crude grades based on RCV values and freight.
• Maintain and update databases, with data from multiple government sources and data agencies. Estimate crude field maintenance and refinery operating rates.
• Tracks ships to keep the relevant desks updated on regional trade flows.
• Participate in weekly meetings with traders, collaborate and formulate the short-term market view and try to generate trading ideas.
• Develop, maintain and improve new models to support changing business needs.
• Provide daily market updates of news and analysis pertinent to the crude market worldwide. This would include market intelligence from a range of publications, news sources and original work.
• Provide ad hoc analysis and help with data augmentation exercises carried by the Singapore analysis team.

Education, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance or economics.
• 6-10 years’ experience on a commodity trading floor, with trading support, or in a refinery in a market/planning function, or a fundamental research firm is preferred.
• Financial, economic, statistical analysis or modeling experience is preferred.
• Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Excel, Access or other database software, statistical modeling software, and economic model development is a plus (R, Matlab, Eviews, Stata,etc) preferred.

What you'll be doing

It is now hiring an AD finance role to do a hybrid role covering 1) valuation of investments (approx. 50% now, but this may go up in future) ; 2) fund accounting/operations (approx. 50%) in the finance team. For this investment firm, the finance team is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, tax, operations and investments’ valuations. Key Responsibilities:

Valuation of investments (around 50% of time*)

• Drive the valuation process across private, fund and public investments, which includes leading the quarterly valuation committee meetings, understanding and analysing deal structures/parameters, transaction documents and their impact on valuation
• Lead and coordinate annual independent valuations to ensure accurate and fair valuations, including the review of methodologies, inputs and assumptions used in the valuations performed by independent valuers, ensuring alignment with the firm’s valuation policy and management of various stakeholders
