Position Description:

Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer - Hybrid

The Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer is responsible for day-to-day operations support activities for process control systems in a vaccine manufacturing facility. the Senior engineer will be the lead engineer of a small team of 2-3 engineers providing day-to-day coordination of tasks, serving as the first point of escalation for the area, and acting as the primary automation change control approver.

The automation technologies may include but are not limited to the following technologies:  Distributed Control Systems (Delta V), Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley), OEM systems to include Washers, Autoclaves, Filter Integrity Testers, and purified water systems (WFI/Clean Steam).

• Understand and support all GMPs, safety, and environmental regulations

• System upgrades, troubleshooting issues, identifying trends, process monitoring, system administration, documentation updates, data querying, operator training and participating in deviation investigations

• Ensure automation documents, preventive maintenance, periodic reviews, and SOPs are in an inspection-ready state

• Support process automation inquiries during internal and external audits/inspections and must, therefore, be able to speak knowledgeably about automation, process and cGMP details of the manufacturing operations

• Evaluate automated and information technology systems and develop strategies to optimize and ensure the quality and stability of automation systems through future expansion, replacement, or upgrade

• Use their technical knowledge to assure the efficient operation of a variety of automated processing and information technology systems

• Lead in installation and qualification of new equipment into operations

• Develop solutions for automation problems

• Participate and contribute to investigations of automation anomalies to prevent a recurrence, which includes on-the-floor support of manufacturing activities

• Lead in the development of technical requirements, keeping in mind the associated technology needs, benefits, and risks

• Analyze complex business requirements using tools and techniques and identifies internal/external solutions to meet these requirements

• Lead in developing control strategies and applying computerized tools that will deliver tangible improvements to overall production unit performance

• Communicate daily with the business, technical, and quality representatives within the area of support through the tier process

• Provide off-site weekend/evening automation phone or on-site support on a rotational basis

• Familiar with lean manufacturing principles with an ability to convert business logic and requirements into detailed system requirements

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Information Technology or other relevant discipline

Required Experience and Skills:

• Six years in process automation or equivalent

• Experience in Automation Platforms such as DCS's (DeltaV), PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), SCADA, OSI PI, Batch Reporting (Informetric Info Batch)

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Experience with Computer System Validation

Our Company at West Point, PA Vaccine Manufacturing site has multiple Operations Manager openings across 2nd & 3rd shifts. As an Operations Manager you will be in a critical position to the organization with direct impact on our Company vision to make a difference in the lives of people globally. In this role you will be a Leader in the production areas that drives the execution of production objectives, while creating an inclusive culture that energizes a Safety First, Quality Always, with a continuous improvement mindset.

Production Operator - Injection

Injection Operator performs a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of injection processes and responsible for day-to-day operations associated an array of PET and HDPE injection equipment and its auxiliary equipment. *(Niagara purchases primarily Husky, but also other OEMs).

Essential Functions

• Responsible for overall preparation, set-up, starting and running injection equipment.
• Ability to perform minor adjustments to injection equipment as directed.  No mechanical work is to be performed without prior approval.
• Responsible for accurately completing and updating information forms and logs such as Injection preform and/or cap daily log, destruction logs and quality forms.
• Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and actions and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operations.  Personal protective equipment is to be used where required.
• Performs visual and mechanical quality checks to ensure production meets quality standards.
• Housekeeping:  maintain general housekeeping in all areas of production, including the break rooms and rest rooms. 
• Raw materials: Be able to define the difference between Vpet, Rpet & HDPE resins. Ability to identify parts safe for grinding and reintroduction to the resin system.
• Maintain quality requirements in accordance with company standards; accurately filling out inspection sheets based on overall production quality. Responsible for recognizing and reporting all quality defects immediately.
• Ability to work in multiple areas of production with minimal supervision; perform relief duties when required
• Ability to troubleshoot minor production equipment issues in all areas and collaborate with maintenance team as necessary.
• Understanding of computer systems such as Shotscope, Electirc80, Ignition and others.
• Comprehension of line flow and manufacturing process to maximize through put.
• Ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely.

Production Operator

This position is responsible for daily operations of the production floor; ensuring the shift meets established safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for daily activities of the production line(s), ensuring product adheres to Niagara’s standard of safety, quality, and throughput.
• Accurately completes applicable quality and production reports hourly.  Physical and visual inspection of product is required to prevent non-conforming goods.  Correctly reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members and shift leadership.
• Adheres to the highest standards of company and plant safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations.  
• Abides by Niagara’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Standards at all times.
• Maintains general housekeeping in all areas of production and additional areas assigned by plant leadership. 
• Maintains appropriate level of raw materials as required, to ensure production lines incur minimal downtime. 
• Demonstrates the aptitude and skill to work in all assigned areas of production; troubleshoots minor production line issues and performs relief duties when required.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

Production Operator

This position is responsible for daily operations of the production floor; ensuring the shift meets established safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for daily activities of the production line(s), ensuring product adheres to Niagara’s standard of safety, quality, and throughput.
• Accurately completes applicable quality and production reports hourly.  Physical and visual inspection of product is required to prevent non-conforming goods.  Correctly reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members and shift leadership.

SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for leading process improvements in the manufacturing cells associated and production lines.  This position will maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. He/she will be responsible for the process flow and documentation of standard work as well as the design & validation of new tools, fixtures and machines.  Besides this position will support site wide, and the Shop floor continuous improvement efforts within Value Streams in the whole plant.

As an integral part of Digital Manufacturing Value Team, the Executive Director Capital Program Delivery is charged with end-to-end orchestration and delivery of Digital capabilities in support of our company's Manufacturing Division’s global Capital Construction portfolio execution, in close partnership with Global Engineering Solutions (GES) organization. This role is directly reporting into the Digital Manufacturing Value Team Leader and would be a member of the Value Team Leadership Team and will represent Digital on the GES Leadership Team.  

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead a Team of Automation & IT capital Project Managers across the globe.

• Manage professionals, across several geographies, promoting career development and continuous upskilling of talent to build incredible, diverse teams and the ecosystem to empower them

• Work closely with all Manufacturing Digital Value Teams as well as Foundational Services (Architecture, Engineering & Compliance) Team to facilitate the end-to-end design build and delivery of Technology Capabilities required for Manufacturing Capital portfolio.
