Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer - Hybrid
The Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer is responsible for day-to-day operations support activities for process control systems in a vaccine manufacturing facility. the Senior engineer will be the lead engineer of a small team of 2-3 engineers providing day-to-day coordination of tasks, serving as the first point of escalation for the area, and acting as the primary automation change control approver.
The automation technologies may include but are not limited to the following technologies: Distributed Control Systems (Delta V), Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley), OEM systems to include Washers, Autoclaves, Filter Integrity Testers, and purified water systems (WFI/Clean Steam).

Understand and support all GMPs, safety, and environmental regulations
System upgrades, troubleshooting issues, identifying trends, process monitoring, system administration, documentation updates, data querying, operator training and participating in deviation investigations
Ensure automation documents, preventive maintenance, periodic reviews, and SOPs are in an inspection-ready state
Support process automation inquiries during internal and external audits/inspections and must, therefore, be able to speak knowledgeably about automation, process and cGMP details of the manufacturing operations
Evaluate automated and information technology systems and develop strategies to optimize and ensure the quality and stability of automation systems through future expansion, replacement, or upgrade
Use their technical knowledge to assure the efficient operation of a variety of automated processing and information technology systems
Lead in installation and qualification of new equipment into operations
Develop solutions for automation problems
Participate and contribute to investigations of automation anomalies to prevent a recurrence, which includes on-the-floor support of manufacturing activities
Lead in the development of technical requirements, keeping in mind the associated technology needs, benefits, and risks
Analyze complex business requirements using tools and techniques and identifies internal/external solutions to meet these requirements
Lead in developing control strategies and applying computerized tools that will deliver tangible improvements to overall production unit performance
Communicate daily with the business, technical, and quality representatives within the area of support through the tier process
Provide off-site weekend/evening automation phone or on-site support on a rotational basis
Familiar with lean manufacturing principles with an ability to convert business logic and requirements into detailed system requirements
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Science, Information Technology or other relevant discipline
Required Experience and Skills:
Six years in process automation or equivalent
Experience in Automation Platforms such as DCS's (DeltaV), PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), SCADA, OSI PI, Batch Reporting (Informetric Info Batch)

SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for leading process improvements in the manufacturing cells associated and production lines. As an integral part of Digital Manufacturing Value Team, the Executive Director Capital Program Delivery is charged with end-to-end orchestration and delivery of Digital capabilities in support of our company's Manufacturing Division’s global Capital Construction portfolio execution, in close partnership with Global Engineering Solutions (GES) organization. Financial and budgeting accountability and stewardship for the technology components of the overall Manufacturing Capital Portfolio, rolling up to Digital Manufacturing overall portfolio management process.
Work in partnership with key stakeholders in Manufacturing, Digital Manufacturing Operations (DMO) and GES to prioritize the relevant investment portfolio and resources.
Continuously work to improve the efficiency of our delivery through partnering with GES to create standard delivering packages for key manufacturing capabilities.
Partner closely with DMO team to ensure successful delivery of capital projects and seamless transition from the project phase to sustaining operations while ensuring retention of critical knowledge within the Digital Manufacturing organization.
Maintain a strong leadership presence, demonstrating thought leadership and educating/coaching Manufacturing leaders on areas of opportunity.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields.
Required Experience and Skills:
15+ years of experience in capital project delivery in leadership roles including Project and Program Management with specific technology experience in manufacturing automation, lab systems and IT infrastructure in complex matrix environments.
10+ years of work experience in a GxP manufacturing environment
Demonstrate superior management skills as well as communication skills that emphasize collaboration in a matrixed organization and ability to align the organization on complex decisions. Strong understanding of agile delivery models
Experience with digital shop floor technologies such as DeltaV, OSI Pi, Werum MES, Siemens Building Automation and Laboratory Information Solutions.
Proven ability to execute consistently, rapidly, and effectively.

Assist in the execution of Equipment Validations (IQ/OQ) and Test Method Validations (TMV) as an operator.
Assure compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS).
Able to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.

Perform visual inspection on Finish Good product to assure product meets final acceptance criteria according to inspection checklist.
Measure materials/products using measurement tools and gauges (calipers, height gauge, rulers, pin gauges, etc.) and generate inspection records. Verify information for accuracy. Ensure that BD’s Good Documentation Practices (GDP) are followed.
Sample and inspect raw materials, sub-assemblies, and final products for conformance to approved specifications.
Perform and/or assist in First Article Inspections (FAI), Engineering Evaluations, and Defect Analyses.
Experience with enterprise software; SAP experience strongly desired.
Assist in managing activities regarding the disposition of non-conforming materials through Quality Notifications (QN); such as generating, routing, recording and the usage decision into SAP.
Assist in the execution of Equipment Validations (IQ/OQ) and Test Method Validations (TMV) as an operator.
Assure compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS).
Able to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma, preferred
Minimum one year experience working as engineering technician or QC inspector
Knowledge and Skills:
IPC-A-610 Specialist Certification desirable.
Knowledge in GD&T.
Knowledge in measuring equipment such as calipers, optical comparators, CMMs, height gauges, etc.
Knowledge in SAP.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of GMP/SOP/Work Instructions and be able to develop techniques to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Ability to work well with others and direct their work activities as required.
Good analytical skills.
