- Serves as Information Technology Specialist (ITSSPEC Network) for processing technology and methodologies.
- Provides technical and analytical support. Assists in the development of procedures and policies center and recommends policy changes as needed to enhance the performance of computer and computer related operations.
- Performs assignments of operation of services affecting all phases of network systems including, but not limited to; NRSW FF&R Network, point of sale, integrating software, and all other applications required for carrying out the mission of the regional processes.
- Has continuing responsibility for the integrity and maintenance of the NRSW FF&R Network computer environment, including but not limited to routers, switches, SANs, LANs, WANs, APs, Copper and Fiber cabling, and equipment and supply inventory control.
- Assists in the coordinating the configuration of NRSW FFR Network Computers to satisfy new or different requirements of a recurring nature imposed by higher authority. Coordinates the configuration of NRSW FFR Network for local recurring and non-recurring requirements which are considered necessary for operations of the IT environment.
- Diagnose and resolves network problems and implements corrective changes. Diagnoses computer failures and isolates the source of problems between equipment, system software or application programs.
- Analyzes and defines network requirements; defines and maintains network architecture and infrastructure; configures and optimizes network servers, hubs, routers and switches.
- Conducts feasibility studies in order to develop information systems to meet user requirements or to improve the Region's ability to ensure uniformity of standards and reporting of data in an accurate and timely manner.
- Participates in the development, implementation and coordination of activities designed to ensure, protect and restore IT systems, services and capabilities.
- Monitors and evaluates system security compliance.
- Assists in the application of system security and accreditation processes for organizational Information Technology Systems.
- Evaluates and recommends adoption of new or enhanced approaches to system security.
- Applies information security and information assurance policy, principles and practices.
- Monitors network capacity and performance; installs, tests, maintains and upgrades network operating systems.
- Coordinates the preparation of solicitations submitted for competitive and noncompetitive procurement.
- These proposals may include subjects such as computer systems, processing services, equipment and supplies for computer operations, facilities modification and other computer and system operation requirements.
- Provides technical monitoring for such contracts.
