Unit Overview:

3 GH is a 37 bed post operative surgical unit focusing on care of the orthopedic, neuro/spine patient population. This includes but is not exclusive to elective hip and knee replacements, fractures, shoulder repairs and replacement, foot, ankle and hand surgery, as well as neuro spine surgeries such as laminectomies, discectomy, anterior and posterior fusions as well as post craniotomies and neurovascular surgeries.  The unit has an aggressive and comprehensive ERAS and pain management program and has been accredited by the joint commission as a Total Joint Center for Excellence. The goal is to provide excellent, high quality evidenced based care in an environment that promotes healing and recovery utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach with the priority focus always on the patient.

Shift: Full-time, Nights

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university or an associate degree with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience required. (In lieu of a bachelor’s degree and less than ten years’ experience,an associate degree in nursing will be acceptable for initial hire with the understanding thatthe individual must be enrolled within 12 months in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.)
• Basic Life Support 
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing from accredited college/university.
• Previous experience on Labor/Delivery unit, ICU, Med-Surge.

The vascular access nurse is responsible for inserting all PICC and midline catheters under ultrasound and for inserting difficult restart or new peripheral lines. 

About the Unit:

The Vascular Access team is responsible for all central line care, troubleshooting IV catheters, monitoring IV assessment review and education for hospital staff related to IV therapy.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an approved nursing program, holding a minimum of an ASN

Current Indiana or compact state RN license.

BLS for Healthcare Provider required.

Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience required

National Certification in vascular access: VA-BC (Vascular Access-Board Certified) preferred.

Vascular access experience or high proficiency in IV skills preferred.

The team leverages their clinical expertise to care for these cardiac patients on all levels from pre-operative teaching, to open-heart recovery, to cardiac ICU care, and to discharge teaching. While cardiac surgery patients are the primary focus, the CVCU team also cares for general ICU patients, complex cardiology patients, patients requiring cardiac devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps and Impellas, and patients requiring cooling after cardiac arrest. New Graduate RN's welcome!

Common neuroscience cases include ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, TIAs, seizure/epilepsy, degenerative disorders, autoimmune disorders, and central nervous system disorders. As a certified Primary Stroke Center, 2C Neuro has been recognized as a state-of-the-art stroke care center.  New Graduate LPNs and RNs are welcome.

Qualifications:
