The Opportunity
Our location in New Brighton, MN, currently has an opportunity for an Associate Product Manager in our Vascular division. This individual will support downstream marketing initiatives, product launches, and programs from concept through a 360-surround sound execution approach. This will include implementation via the U.S. commercial organization, conferences, and digital media.
What You'll Work On
As the Associate Product Manager, you will work to implement marketing and sales strategy for a few of the organization's more complex and strategically significant products in order to meet established sales and market share targets. You will be a key contributor in the development and execution of best-in-class tactile plans utilizing deep marketing insights to drive innovative marketing campaigns. In this position, you will be regarded as a technical expert related to assigned products with broad knowledge of related fields. You will work closely with the U.S. commercial organization, internal stakeholders and external customers.

The Opportunity
This position works out of our office in Des Plaines IL for Abbott Molecular, a division of Abbott Laboratories, a global, diversified healthcare innovator with a legacy of pioneering work in medical diagnostics.
As the Senior Product Manager, Sexual Health, you will be working on highly visible projects within the molecular diagnostics business unit, and will be responsible for driving execution of the global brand marketing strategy. The Senior Product Manager shall maintain worldwide product expertise for products/franchises, including market sizes/trend share, customer needs and targeting, product performance/benefits/weaknesses/positioning. The person hired in this role will also provide on-going support of new product development including customer requirements definition, product concept validation, financial analysis, and securing Business Unit commitment through market launch.
Success will be measured against sales and margin expectations, sales force competency/knowledge level and market image.
What You’ll Work On
Maintain worldwide market expertise for products and franchises, including in-depth knowledge of competitor products and strategies, market trends and dynamics, market/franchise critical success factors, and customer needs.
Develop and update annual marketing plans/strategies including market analysis, customer segmentation and targeting, product positioning, competitive assessments, and SWOT or other situation assessment.
Create and develop strategies for new product commercialization.
Assess new markets and opportunities in support of BD and R&D.
Partner with global peers and in-market experts to build the brand to achieve business goals.
Ensure alignment of cross-functions at Headquarters and Regions to insight direction.
Liaison effectively with global stakeholders, both at Headquarters and in the Regions, in a matrix organizational design to bring plans to fruition.
As for every leadership position, this individual is Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (± 16 years) business or marketing an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
At least 5 years of substantial financial skills, market analysis and advanced communication skills.
At least 5 years of knowledge/ability to develop and execute a product launch.
At least 5 years of strong analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
At least 5 years of experience being able to understand technical and scientific information.
At least 5 years of understanding and complying with Regulatory requirements.
Must be able to influence and motivate individuals from sales, marketing, and other functional areas to drive product sales.
Must be able to complete multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA strongly preferred.
5+ Years in marketing (upstream and/or downstream) with preferably 2 years in global marketing
Experience working in health care/med device organizations.
Previous experience in product commercialization, marketing campaign development, customer segmentation
Development of agency briefs, agency management
Excellent presentation skills and comfortable with presenting to Sr. Leadership

Position Summary

WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Product Manager is a driver of the success for the Structural Interventions product line in the Structural Heart business unit. This position will work closely with the sales team and be responsible for aspects of US strategy implementation plus Forecasting, Financial and Marketing Plan Development, Sales Materials and Training, Pricing, and Materials Management.
Maintain US product expertise including market sizes and trend share, customer needs and targeting, product performance, benefits/weaknesses, and positioning.
Provide on-going field support and will focus on growing the market awareness for Structural Interventions and related disease states, including launching new products.
Success will be measured against sales and margin expectations, sales force competency/knowledge level and development of marketing programs which enhance field and customer experience.
Maintain worldwide market expertise, including in-depth knowledge of US competitor products and strategies, market trends and dynamics, market/franchise critical success factors, and customer needs.
Develop strategies to address product performance issues.
Update annual marketing plans/strategies including market analysis, customer segmentation and targeting, product positioning, competitive assessments, and SWOT situation assessment.
Support launch readiness by developing product inventory timing, marketing programs, and working with communications manager to develop promotional collateral.
Take a leadership role on project teams to work closely with the project manager to drive accountability and team achievement of goals and milestones.
Manage creative agencies to plan, develop, and execute new US materials.
Partner with regulatory colleagues in the review and negotiation of materials to ensure competitiveness, accuracy, and compliance.
Will have marketing and budget responsibility for designated products.
Drive to deliver Sales, Margin, and key performance metrics for SI products.
Will be expected to be responsive and able to directly address questions and requests of senior management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required
Prior marketing experience within medical device or healthcare industry.
Bachelors’ Degree with 4+ years related marketing or product management experience. MBA with 1+ years of related experience also considered.
Ability to travel 30-40% of the time.
Substantial financial skills, market analysis and advanced communication skills.
Knowledge/ability to develop and execute a new product launch.
Strong analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
