Program Summary
To prevent fire and minimize injuries, loss of life, property and the environment, occurring in periods of peace, war and military operations other-than-war and humanitarian support operations. Included are both man-made and natural incidents; fire suppression or hazard mitigation; rescue; mitigation or containment of releases of hazardous materials.
Job Summary
To serve as a Firefighter assigned to a crew engaged in airfield, structural firefighting, crash-rescue, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT). To drive and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity, to respond to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release, and to conduct performance of noninvasive basic first aid procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Responding to fire incidents promptly and efficiently.
- Driving emergency vehicles with strategic route planning.
- Operating a variety of specialized equipment, including pumps and foam generators.
- Utilizing advanced protective gear in hazardous situations.
- Performing daily preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and equipment checks.
- Ensuring all equipment is consistently maintained in optimal working conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Citizenship of the United States
- Possession of an Active Security Clearance or the capability to obtain one.
- Possession of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of firefighting experience in a structured fire protection role that delivers fire suppression services. At least two of these years must be within an organization providing aircraft crash, fire, and rescue services. The candidate should demonstrate a proficient understanding of fire suppression, rescue, and emergency incident techniques, as well as the operation of fire equipment, water distribution, and supply requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification Requirements - IAW DOD 6055.06 M.
- Employee is required to be certified by the Department of Defense (DOD) Firefighter Certification System as Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II), HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Technician, Apparatus Driver Operator – Pumper, Apparatus Driver Operator – Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), Apparatus Driver Operator- Mobile Water Supply (MWS), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) recommended, not required.
