Lead Finance Officer for a portfolio of Retail Services partner credit programs, the Specialty Partners Group (or “SPG”) partnering with merchants in the U.S that include a number of marquee names (like Wayfair, Tractor Supply, BrandSource, Goodyear, Shell).  Responsible for leading the financial analysis team in the areas of pricing, investment decision support, expense management as well as partnering with external client and multiple functions within Citi.  Be a key leader in the ongoing development of the program strategy.  Drive profitable growth in program assets, while optimizing Citi’s capital and operating efficiency through insightful analysis and strategy development and evaluation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Including Direct Reports

·       Work closely with Citi Risk, Control, Compliance and Operations, and the Retail Partner management teams, to ensure strong internal control/compliance environment

·       Partner with cross functional client teams to develop, review and approve all promotional pricing, marketing, investments, and growth initiatives, driving product, channel, and promotion specific profitability analyses

·       Analyze contract changes, analyzing financial impacts, negotiate with partner and partner with Legal to draft contract language

·       Lead Citi Internal planning process and external partner forecasts for portfolio, collaborate with centralized FP&A team to develop financial projections and present to internal and external senior management

·       Hire, develop, and retain onshore and offshore staff members to deliver value added financial analysis and decision support to drive business performance

·       Ensure financial transactions between Citi and the partners are in compliant with contract

·       Work closely with Citi Controllers and Accounting Policy on accounting requirements for all aspects of partner agreements, policy changes, and initiatives

Education and/or Experience

·       B.S. in Finance or Accounting.

·       15+ years of financial experience in credit card industry and/or financial services.

·       Strong leadership skill and business acumen.  Executive presence, ability to interact and influence senior management of external client.

Reporting to the Head of Operations for Finance, the Process Standardization Lead is responsible for Finance’s process standardization efforts. Reporting to the Head of Operations for Finance, the Resource Management Lead is responsible for leading the Finance Organizations’ workforce and technology strategies, as well as ensuring governance and compliance with all of Citi’s and the Finance organization’s policies, procedures and processes.

The Senior Lead Analyst position is an integral member of the Global Regulatory Reporting Group (GRR).  The GRR Group is a high profile function, providing financial information to the regulators including the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).  The position will have a high level of visibility within the organization with opportunities to work directly on a regular basis with Management and will also interact very closely with other groups throughout Citi, including Risk, Treasury, Controllers, SEC Reporting, Accounting Policy, Financial Planning & Analysis, Capital Planning, and Finance & Risk Shared Services.   The core responsibilities include preparation and analysis of the quarterly, semi-annual and annual Regulatory Reports required by FRB and OCC for Citigroup and Citibank entities, including FR Y-9C, Call Report, and Comprehensive Capital Assessment Review (CCAR).  Other responsibilities include certain earnings release, 10-Q/10-K disclosures, preparation/review of Board of Directors and Senior Management Presentations and Analyst Packages, maintenance of the global Accounting Policy Manual, internal controls on Regulatory data integrity, data quality improvement projects as well as implementation of new reporting systems. 

Key Responsibilities:

The FX Finance Lead is a senior management level position responsible for providing management with analysis and insight of financial results in coordination with the broader Finance team.

Institutional Credit Management Risk Analysis Unit (IRAUs) is an integral part of the Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) Underwriting organization.  The IRAU’s mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring and credit administration as a partner to ICG Risk and Banking, shared commitment to ensuring the safety and soundness of wholesale lending across ICM.

ICM Risk Analysis Credit Risk Senior Analysts are responsible for a portfolio of ICM Risk Relationships, owning the Credit Risk Analysis for those relationships, and being responsible for the continuous monitoring of that portfolio. Credit Risk Senior Analysts are expected to use their industry and financial knowledge to perform credit assessments, using independent judgment and discretion on aspects relating to credit risk ratings, regulatory classification and credit recommendation to Second Line of Defense that includes the production of Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, and Transactions memos.

A Credit Risk Senior Analyst is expected to have a strong understanding of credit risk, of Citi´s internal policies and procedures, and be knowledgeable about the industry fundamentals that portfolio belongs to. They might need some supervision from their Credit Risk Team Lead on more sensitive and complex credit situations and be able to communicate with ICM Risk and Banking partners, with minimal supervision of the Team Lead.

This role has responsibility for the portfolio of General Corporates Relationships. It reports directly to the General Corporates Credit Risk Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi’s Large Corporate, Public Sector, and Financial Institutions Clients by performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors

• Complete Credit Analysis Write-up Memos and Final Obligor Risk Ratings of Citi’s Counterparties based on independent assessment and judgement completed on the due diligence of the client and industry knowledge to provide appropriate extensions of credit remaining within risk appetite

• Perform Transaction memos approvals in a timely manner according to Business priority. Discretionary recommendation should be documented in the memo on the proposal.

• Using discretion and independent judgement, perform the analysis to make recommendations to Second Line of Defense on risk ratings, classifications and proposal

• Continuously monitor the covered portfolio, following industry trends, impacts to key relationships, and escalation of potential credit issues to Credit Risk Team Leads, ICG Risk and Banking partners

• Partner with applicable regional and industry stakeholders in Banking and Independent Risk in the implementation of credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios

• Support ICM Risk Analysis Voice of the Employee (VOE) initiatives

• Travel (less than 10%)

Skills/Competencies:

• Risk & Credit Underwriting:

  • Intermediate analytical skills, including an understanding of key financial components (liquidity position, leverage profile) with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues

  • Demonstrates considerable knowledge of financial statements and GAAP accounting or similar governance relating to country of operation

  • Displays robust industry research capabilities, including risk and key drivers

  • Strong understanding of Credit Policy and procedures; proactively refers to resources as needed

The End-to-End lead for Risk Mgt Report – Scoping, Data Acquisition, Sampling and Profiling will be responsible for the end-to-end transaction testing process for prioritized reports, including planning, scoping, sampling, test execution and observation validation.  This lead will work closely with Risk and Management Report use case owners, Functional Chief Data Officers (FCDOs) and Global Functions Technology (GFT) to adopt, execute transaction testing cycles and ensure adherence to the Transaction Testing Operating Model.

Success for this lead is to effectively and efficiently plan and lead testing cycles aligned to the Transaction Testing Multi Year Plan and Operating Model, testing data reported to regulators match their original source values, and conform to reporting requirements to identify areas which may require stronger data quality controls or compensating measures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Report transaction testing reviews for a book of work
• Sr analysts supporting transaction testing reviews including prioritizing work, providing guidance throughout cycles, developing analysts’ testing skill set, report and product knowledge through training on cycle scope. 
• Partner with GFT, Business Technology, Report Owners, FCDOs and external consultants in leading transaction testing cycles aligned the Transaction Testing Operating Model.
• Identify issues and exceptions, produce executive quality reports, analysis and insights, coordinate handoffs and communicate updates and results effectively to manager and stakeholders
• Support Root Cause Analysis in collaboration with GFT, Data Providers, Report Owners, FDCOs
• Ensure adherence to relevant policies, standards and operating procedures pertaining to Transaction Testing E2E Process

The Credit Analyst 2 is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Responsibilities:

• Spread new, renewal, interim financial statements and business/individual tax returns in accordance with bank guidelines (focus on more complex financial statements).
• Provide succinct analysis based on customers, peers, the portfolio, and the industry.
• Provide preliminary analysis of simple to complex credits, including calculation of cash flow, debt service coverage, collateral coverage, and guarantor net worth.
• Coordinate with the Credit Officers, Credit Analysts, Other Credit Center Staff and Relationship Managers.
• Act in an advisory role for the Credit Officers/Relationship Managers on loan agreement/covenants clarification and monitoring.
• Complete quality assurance reviews to ensure application packages and analysis are thorough and accurate prior to forwarding for underwriting.
• Provide leadership, training, and coaching to Credit Analyst I positions and back up support to colleagues
