The selectee will serve as a Government Information Specialist (FOIA Analyst) in the Office of Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs, FOIA programs division. Typical work assignments include:
- Assisting with coordinating, monitoring, and administering the agency's FOIA/PA Program; reviewing regulatory changes and court decisions and assessing their impact on the FOIA/PA Program; and identifying issues pertinent to the Freedom of Information/Privacy Act and conducting research needed to support accountability and transparency.
- Evaluating information, balancing the rights of the requester with the importance of safeguarding sensitive government information; making determination on a full range of requests for records, under the provision of the Freedom Information Act (FOIA)/ Privacy Act (PA).
- Reviewing and redacting extremely sensitive law enforcement records to include: personnel; protection; contract; inspections; applicants; investigations; and protective intelligence; and serving as a point of contact with other agencies, representative of the news media, and private law firms on a variety of issues, promoting interagency cooperation, and preparing correspondence explaining the basis for determinations.
