SALARY $68,289.00 - $109,521.00 ANNUALLY

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
A Procurement Officer II plans, coordinates and oversees the procurement activities of a large City agency and is the primary point of contact with the Bureau of Purchases. Work of this class may involve supervising support personnel.
Incumbents receive general supervision from an administrative superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office setting where there is little exposure to uncomfortable or hazardous environmental conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience in purchasing work.
OR
NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles and practices of purchasing.
Ability to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate purchasing programs and procedures.
Analytical ability.
Ability to prepare budgetary, fiscal and management reports.
Ability to perform accounting work of a limited nature.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, the Bureau of Purchases and vendors.
Ability to compose technical material and commodity specifications.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Supervisory ability.
