Major Duties include but not limited to:
- The incumbent is the facility Outreach Coordinator and single point of contact for all outreach activities.
- Develops and administers surveys to collect opinions and information about outreach topics, delivery methods, formats, and interest.
- Develops annual outreach calendar and establishes metrics criteria and benchmarks to measure response to outreach activities. Monitors and analyzes trends and anomalies to determine areas for improvement. Uses findings to justify budget requests, adjust priorities, refine strategy, and report on program success.
- Develops a network relationship with the state and private Veterans' organizations to broaden the scope of outreach and increase the community awareness of the role VA plays in being a resource to that community by coordinating and attending events to provide information, collecting and verifying data and information, and working with shareholders and local business partners on collective projects to improve information channels, distribution, type, and relevance.
- Maintains extensive and comprehensive information systems relating to specialized Veteran groups to identify outreach activities and opportunities for improvement. Analyzes trends and patterns via Veteran Experience reports (i.e., V-Signal, SHEP, etc.…) and works with management and staff to continually improve service provided to Veterans through a robust outreach campaign. Ensures that each opportunity for improvement is followed through to resolution and that findings, conclusions, recommendation, and actions taken are documented through ExtraView and PATS-R systems.
- Serves as the chair of the Outreach Committee which involves coordinating/executing outreach events, training staff, and reporting outreach activities and best practices via Quality, Safety, and Value monthly meetings. Mentors and assists in the training of other Medical Center outreach staff.
- Coordinates with public affairs and program staff to develop and distribute promotional and informative outreach materials including videos, photos, social media posts, brochures, pamphlets, posters, flyers, banners, and visual aids.
- Conducts seminars, conferences, and other information dissemination activities, and participates in events and programs such as the Military Transition Assistance Program, Armed Forces Day booths, and Veterans Organizations seminars to deliver presentations to individuals or groups, collect and disseminate information, conduct surveys, distribute promotional material, generate interest in VHA programs and services, and represent the facility and agency. Coordinates media coverage and gives interviews to highlight and promote facility services, benefits, and programs.
- Receives and responds to congressional and White House inquiries concerning VA benefits for Veterans and other claimants. Serves as the medical center's primary congressional liaison and point of contact. Reviews inquiries, researches issues involved, consults and coordinates with other federal, state, and local agencies as necessary, and prepares written replies or furnishes replies by telephone to congressional or White House staff members on behalf of the Medical Center Director.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
