Major duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serving as the manager of an integrated, cross discipline service line comprised of Public Affairs, Medical Media, and Congressional & Stakeholder Relations.
- Providing oversight and management for public affairs, medical media services, and duplication services within the health care system, including budget and fiscal management, human resources management, strategic planning and public affairs program management and evaluation, assuring that they are integrated to provide optimum usage of resources.
- Participating at the senior management level within the health care system in overall planning and management activities related to communication, patient education, congressional and stakeholder relations.
- Creating and maintaining a public and community relations program that promotes a positive image, elevates public opinion, provides informative and timely external and internal communications mediums, and strives to foster stakeholder and patient satisfaction and positive employee morale.
- Creating, designing, and distributing publications and multimedia products, to include the annual report, magazine, newsletter, employee bulletins, all health care system printed and visual/video products and any special publications.
- Participating in public speaking engagements, managing a proactive media relations program across three media markets.
- Responding to media inquiries, developing speeches and public service announcements, coordinating public events, managing overall health care system communication and congressional briefings.
- Writing congressional statements and maintaining all brochures as well as the health care system printed and visual products and any special publications.
Work Schedule: M-F 8:00-4:30
Telework: Ad-hoc: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
