Who are we looking for?We are looking for a Carpentry and Joinery Lecturer to join our professional construction team based at our Stephen Burke Construction Academy in Swadlincote. You will teach, assess, and monitor full time and Apprentice students engaged in Level programmes from levels 1 to 3, support and facilitate student learning, and liaise closely with management and other departments. As part of this role you may also be required to deliver part-time evening courses.Industrial and commercial experience within the carpentry and joinery industry is essential, along with an understanding and knowledge of apprenticeship systems and operations. Due to a member of staff moving onto a new role, we now have a vacancy for a Course Leader in charge of GCSE English Language. In 2022/3, a total of 231 students studied GCSE English Language resits at Runshaw College. These students study a range of L1, L2 and L3 vocational courses across the college and must re-sit their GCSE in English Language as a condition of funding if they have achieved below a grade 4. During 2023/4, we are piloting a whole college approach to GCSE delivery and assessment, and this is an ideal role for someone with strong leadership skills who is able to effectively collaborate with a range of different curriculum teams across college.
To be successful in this role, you will take a lead on the planning and implementation of the GCSE curriculum as well as coordinate and chair meetings with the GCSE English teachers to implement timely interventions. You will also work closely with the Pre-Advanced Head of Studies and Head of School for English, Languages and Classics to monitor and track GCSE English performance across the college.
