Applied Materials’ Product Transition Group is searching for an intern to join our team in summer 2024! Utilizing foundational engineering tools such as DfX review and First Article Builds the “PTG” team is vital to the successful transition of products from engineering development to high volume manufacturing release. The position will entail the following:
New Product Manufacturing Engineers (commonly known as NPMEs) are an essential component of Applied Materials’ new product development and are critical to their preparation and introduction into volume manufacturing to fulfill our customer’s insatiable appetite for cutting edge technology. The NPME is a strategic function within Worldwide Operations that works closely with Design Engineering, Product Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Customer Support to transform new designs into marketable and manufacturable products that seamlessly merge with existing operational strategies.
NPME Intern Responsibilities
- Participate in the DfX review and feedback of new designs to identify improvement opportunities (i.e. cost, sourcing, producibility, manufacturability, configurability, cycle time, logistics, start-up, maintenance, etc.)
- Analyze CAD models for systems and assemblies to develop initial assembly build sequences
- Utilize SAP and other tools to identify critical path items, escalate and remove material and engineering roadblocks for PTG Technicians
- Work with PTG Technicians to implement redline updates identified on First Article Builds onto Operational Method Sheets
- Refine product manufacturing strategy suggesting work center routing, sourcing and testing in alignment with the overall sales and supply chain strategies
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a full time Bachelor's degree program in Fall 2024
- Pursing a degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field
