The CMO (Chief Medical Officer) is required to follow all of the duties and Core Professional Competencies of a Primary Care physician and is accountable for the coordination and oversight of clinical and administrative activities for staff and patient care.

Additional duties are but not limited to the following:

- Responsible for performance improvement activities in the clinic.
- Directs and supervises clinical activities of the Primary Care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
- Supports other Service Chiefs in overseeing the operations of specialty and all ancillary services performed in the clinic.
- Devotes up to 50% of time in direct patient care, serves as a role model for peers.
- Completes annual proficiency evaluations for the Primary Care physicians and physician assistants.
- Oversees the work performed by Primary Care nurse practitioners.
- Incorporates provider specific performance improvement data in these appraisals.
- Is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all education programs in the clinic.
- The position includes broad management and administrative responsibilities.
- The CMO is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the clinic. This includes regular assessment of building function for safety and effectiveness and facilitation of necessary corrective actions. These may include efforts by clinic staff, by other VA staff or by the lessor affiliations. It also includes maintaining effective teamwork amongst clinic staff.
- Carry out and perform duties of a Primary Care Physician when in direct patient care.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm or 8:00am to 4:30 pm with occasional Saturday work schedule.

The Supervisory Program Specialist serves to develop and implement comprehensive plans and strategies for the internal and external integration of day-to-day and long­ range projects, actions, and activities for the Veterans Experience Office. Such projects and programs may be in support of administrative functions or scientific research activities. The incumbent analyzes and evaluates, on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals and objectives and analyzes program performance data to identify issues and make recommendations for improvement. The core duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Provides program oversight, coordination, and leadership related to Veterans Experience.
• Collects, analyzes, and trends data related to Veteran satisfaction or Voice of the Veteran data.
• Provides briefings or presentations regarding Veterans Experience initiatives and data to executive leadership, service chiefs, and front-line employees.
• Serves on facility and VISN committees representing the Veterans Experience perspective; chairs the Veterans Experience Committee.
• Provides direction and guidance to patient advocate and red coat ambassador staff.
• Makes recommendations to leadership regarding initiatives to improve the overall Veteran Experience.
• Addresses concerns from Veterans, family members, congress, etc.

Major duties and responsibilities will include:

• Develops, implements, monitors, and adjusts plans to cost-effectively accomplish the mission within budgetary constraints;
• Provides leadership and guidance to determine the resource needs of all organizational elements
• Adjusts resources allocations as dictated by a change in the program needs or requirements;
• Issues financial allowance documents to ensure funds are available for program activities and are properly allocated, obligated, and used in an efficient manner;
• Participates in strategic planning initiatives to ensure an awareness of medical administration issues and implications are considered and influence management decisions;
• Implements initiatives that have implications for operations (i.e. scheduling initiatives, roll out of new scheduling or other technical software systems, initiatives related to supporting patient access to care, etc.);
• Hires/selects staff, provides competency assessments, ensures adequate training and completes performance evaluations;
• Resolves complaints or grievances from staff members, Veterans, caregivers and congressional inquiries;
• Analyzes call center metrics to ensure goals and objectives are being met and reliable and efficient support is being provided to customers;
• Reviews and evaluates the results of audits/inspections and responses to action items;
