A vacancy has arisen for a Band 5 nurse to join an established team in supporting clinical research in Critical Care and Emergency Medicine based at University Hospital, Coventry. Applications are welcomed from individuals with recent experience in an acute care setting who can demonstrate the knowledge and skills that would enable them to succeed in this post. Research nurses need to be empathetic and adept at establishing rapport with patients, their families and members of the multi-disciplinary teams involved in their care. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to improving patient care, eager to learn, have an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate excellent documentation, organisational and time management skills. The post holder will work in conjunction with other team members to ensure that all research is conducted to the highest standards, safeguarding the wellbeing of the participants, in accordance with all current legislative, ethical and governance principles and policies.

While experience in clinical research and/or one of the specialties mentioned above would be desirable, all relevant training will be provided.

This post offers the potential for the successful candidate to progress to a Band 6 research sister/charge nurse position within 12 to 18 months. Please note that progression is dependent on achieving the following criteria: completion of all relevant training, sign off for all the core R&D competencies, ability to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge in practice and a satisfactory appraisal. If the criteria have not been met by month 18 there will be no automatic upgrade and progression to a band 6 post would be in the usual way (by application and interview), when an opportunity arises.

Typical activities in this role include being actively involved in the recruitment of patients to a range of research studies (e.g., obtaining consent, collecting data and biological samples), managing a study caseload and liaising with academic and commercial sponsor organisations, both national and international.

New starters undergo an induction programme and relevant training to help them complete their research competency package. Join IQVIA™ as Trainee - Clinical Research Associate / Associate CRA (m/w/d) in the sponsor dedicated team and work in home-office throughout Germany.

In our Clinical Functional Service Partnership models, we work in a close partnership with key customers to deliver a comprehensive clinical trial management. Within this team, you will focus on different projects of one single pharma client and gain direct and in-depth experience of collaborating with this sponsor.

Beside establishing strong relationships with the client and the involved investigators, you will conduct monitoring on complex clinical trials and assure the adherence to good clinical practices, standard operating procedures, and study protocols.

What the Traineeship is:

• A permanent contract.
• One month of in-depth training on the Clinical Research Associate job, further months of mentoring and co-monitoring.
• Remote work / home office with high-class remote trainings and guidance combined with work experience on business travel.
• Trainings on clinical research legal regulations and the work methodology as well as on therapeutic area knowledge and the administration and distribution of clinical research supply.
• Gaining a brought work experience at clinical research sites (hospitals and doctor’s offices) by accompanying experienced Clinical Research Associates onsite and remotely.

Responsibilities of a Clinical Research Associate include:

• Performing site selection, initiation, monitoring and close-out visits, plus maintaining appropriate documentation.
• Supporting the development of a subject recruitment plan.
• Establishing regular lines of communication plus administering protocol and related study training to assigned sites.
• Evaluating the quality and integrity of site practices – escalating quality issues as appropriate.
• Managing progress by tracking regulatory submissions, recruitment, case report form (CRF) completion, and data query resolution.

Applicants should have:

• A university degree in a health care or other scientific discipline or a vocational education in the medical field.
• Experience in clinical research as e.g. Trials Assistant, Trial Coordinator, Study Nurse / Coordinator, Medical Documentation Officer , etc.
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in German on at least C1 level, including good command of English is mandatory.
• Flexibility to regular business travel and a driving license class B.
• Computer skills including proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Effective time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
