Major duties included, but are not limited to:

• Performing simple repairs to electrical switches and controls.
• Properly shutting down and locking out equipment before scheduled maintenance inspections are performed.
• Assisting other Facilities Management personnel with equipment cleaning.
• Performing operational checks on equipment assigned.
• Ability to identify and correct minor defects on doors and door hardware.
• Performing routine maintenance and troubleshoot various building systems.
• Hanging pictures, towel boxes, tissue holders, white boards etc.
• Modifying, adjusting, or repairing wall mounted devices.
• Closing out work orders on a daily basis for work that was completed that day or no later than the next business day.
• Reading and understanding simple blueprints and sketches.
• Making minor repairs to plumbing equipment such as toilets, sinks and plugged drains.
• Operating one or more power tool for the installation of equipment.
• Assisting other personnel with building maintenance projects, including electrical, air conditioning, plumbing and painting.
• Replacing ceiling tiles.
• Ability to repair, adjust, modify, install, trouble-shoot and inspect systems necessary for the hospital's operation during days, afternoons, or evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Worker/PD09912A
Physical Requirements: The physical demands on the incumbent involve light and heavy lifting, climbing, kneeling, overhead work, pushing and/or other fatigue producing factors.

Starting at $31.55 Per Hour (WG 8)

Cleans visitor use comfort stations, office restrooms and common areas, and pick litter.These positions also provide routine maintenance on park facilities including, minor carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical work. They assist higher graded maintenance employees in the performance of maintenance tasks. Safely and effectively use hand power tools required for the job and maintain these tools properly.

These positions are Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. Permanent career-seasonal positions include all the benefits of permanent employment but do not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectees will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectees are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. This position is expected to be placed into a non-pay status for two weeks each year.

South Rim Area Information:
These positions are stationed at Grand Canyon National Park at the South Rim located in Northern Arizona. The South Rim is located approximately 60 miles north of Williams and 82 miles Northwest of Flagstaff at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Temperatures range from approximately 90 degrees in the summer to 0 degrees in the winter. Annual precipitation averages around 13 inches.

Grand Canyon Village has schools K-12, a daycare center, post office, general store, churches, a recreation center with gym, a public library, a clinic with resident physicians, and several restaurants. The park community consists of some 2,500 people, including employees of the NPS and concessionaires and their family members. There are often employment opportunities for family members in the park and surrounding areas. The park community is small enough that many employees choose to walk or bike from their homes to work. Complete shopping, educational, medical and professional services are available in Williams and Flagstaff. Flagstaff has a population of about 66,000 and has multiple K-12 public and private schools, Northern Arizona University, and diverse community, medical and other support services. Recreational opportunities include hiking, backpacking, fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing, and golfing in nearby communities.

South Rim Housing: Permanent and Term employees with a Full Performance Level (FPL) of a GS-09 or WG-8 and above will be provided the option of accepting assigned housing, participating in the normal bid system, or accepting shared housing. Permanent and Term employees with an FPL of GS-08 or WG-7 and below may be provided the option of participating in the normal bid system or accepting shared housing. Any employee assigned to shared housing may continue to bid into non-shared housing.

Starting at $21.15 Per Hour (WG 5)

Functions as a Maintenance Worker Supervisor within the UNICOR factory at the Federal Correctional Institution, Milan, Michigan.

Responsible for any and all repairs and alterations to equipment, structures, and facilities within UNICOR including the ventilation systems, production and operational equipment, lighting systems, fire protection systems and electrical wiring systems throughout the factory.

Supervises and trains inmate workers in various phases who are generally unskilled when initially committed and require training in the use of hand tools, testing equipment, electrical knowledge and machine operations.

Responsible for adhering to safety procedures for hazardous material handling, OSHA requirements, and environmental issues.

Plans for and installs sensitive manufacturing machinery to include pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Starting at $42.79 Per Hour (WS 09)

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Carrying out Electrical Installation works supervised. Carrying out fault finding and testing on Emergency lighting and keep all relevant records. Working within a Shift system, or on planned overtime, or to participate in an out of hours on-call rota, as necessary. Completing job sheets for effective feedback, record keeping and the initiation (when required) of follow-on works. Working the BMS system (Building Management System) Testing and repairing street lighting, general lighting, nurse call systems and small power circuits Carrying out essential maintenance on all plant and Air Handling Units Advising, assisting, supervising, training and supporting team members on methods of working in order to deliver jobs efficiently, to the required standard and in accordance with current best practice.

Maintenance Worker / Gardener based at The Martins, Bury St Edmunds

Available Hours:

Permanent - Part Time - 35 hours per week.

Reporting to the Manager you will be responsible for all general maintenance and upkeep duties required to ensure a safe and attractive environment for residents and staff.

Duties will include planned preventive work and safety checks, as well as running repairs and the supervision of outside contractors. This position would be a satisfying job for an individual who can demonstrate practical skills in maintenance, gardening as well as painting and decorating as well as respect for older people.

You'll make sure that all our gardens and grounds are beautifully presented and immaculately looked after, sharing your love of outdoor spaces with residents and visitors.
